No Fate but What We Make. (Destiny)
Ran the Nightfall with Slycrel and Speedracer last night... Undying Mind with Solar Burn, extra-resistant shields, and some other fun stuff. Solar Burn can be pretty brutal on this strike, but thanks to Sleeper Simulant and Black Spindle the hurt goes both ways. Managed to rip through the tougher moments quite easily.
Oh, and I got a Fakebringer ;)
It has Sureshot IS, Hot Swap (equipping grants bonus accuracy), a choice between Hammer Forged (extended Range and Accuracy) or Feather Mag (super fast reloads), and Firefly.
I selected Feather Mag, put on some fast-reload gloves, turned on my Gunsinger's Trance perks, and went nuts.
It feels. so. good. Like coming home again. I know Fatebringer was unquestionably overpowered in year 1. I know it lead to a lack of weapon diversity in PvE. But I enjoyed that a heck of a lot more than I enjoy the vast array of mediocre primary weapons we have now. I feel super lucky to have landed a roll like this. Now to get this beauty to 320 :)

Fun. :)

Got one myself not too long ago. No firefly, but that just makes it feel like TDYK instead, which I actually used for longer, and the other perks are good. Feels good.

Last night I convinced my brother-in-law to see how far we could make it through the Crota raid. We made it about 9-10 lamps, he would simply run forward and I would try to keep up & while killing things. I was using my fatebringer, and oh my goodness, I forgot how amazing that gun is for that section of the raid. I could take out huge swaths of thrall that I thought were going to kill me.
When we try this for reals in a week or two I'll really have to convince him to pause at the lamps. :) Maybe I'll even try out the Necrocasm... maybe.

Dat horn! =)

For me, TDYK will always be the one that got away... I somehow missed picking one up back in the early days of year 1, so I never got to experience using it.

I just want one with Outlaw.
Too lazy to get a group together to farm it, though.

I'll farm it with you.

I don't think I picked up the vendor version, but maybe I did. I was under the impression that my TDYK had an interesting roll:
Clown Cartridge
Quick Draw / Perfect Balance / Skip rounds
Luck in the Chamber
I loved that thing. Admittedly Clown Cartridge & Luck in the Chamber are a bit at odds, but I still really liked that gun with perfect balance & a 12+ magazine... man.

I'll be your third
Count me in for some farming. Thursday?

It was hawkmoon crossed with fatebringer.

Nope, that was a random roll that you had. I have the vendor version and that's definitely not it.

No Fate but What We Make.
I don't know that you missed out on a LOT, but I always liked that gun. They were identical in stats and behavior, just different perks. The vendor roll TDYK had zen moment and send it if I remember right, so it was easier to hit things at longer range, but it lacked firefly and outlaw. IMO Fatebringer would be better all-around, but TDYK won at the outer reaches of HC range (which was pretty far back then).
For me it's mostly just nostalgia. TDYK was the first legendary I bought so I used it a LOT and for a long time, whereas I didn't get a Fatebringer until pretty late in the year.
Awesome. ;)
So I know you have pretty lousy RNG luck, in general... but it might make you feel a little better that I have a friend who's been farming Imago Loop for months (he ran the Nightfall 14 times yesterday alone)... and that's the roll he's been gunning for since the beginning. He's NEVER gotten it.
You did good. :)

Mid winter break plus sciatica means completely free.
I should get my Xbox Live subscription soon, and I basically can't leave my house. Any time is good for me.

I can do 7-9 tomorrow night.
Longer if I don't have to work.

Just call in sick.
That said, I've gotta play Doom some time tomorrow. We're really getting into the meat of the story. Doctor guy and marine guy keep driving away.

I created an event for us as a reminder
If you sign up I'll remove your reservation, so the event will show as green for you.

Too much effort. Best farming gear? Sleeper Simulant? DB?

It totally made my day :)
I've actually had a pretty good little run over the past week or so, in terms of the RNG gods. I got a Treads Upon Stars with Firefly a few days ago, then I got the Doctrine of Passing with the exact roll I was hoping for on Monday night, and then the Imago Loop last night!

Reddit has some opinions...
Quick guide to help you farm Imago Loop
I was thinking I'd use a hunter, and either using golden gun (Celestial Nighthawk or Symbiote) on yellow enemies or generating orbs for you guys with a Nightstalker. Since it's a Match Game, probably Supercell, Solar Sniper, and Void Sword - at least until I see if any shield types are under-represented.

Treads Upon Stars is currently my favorite gun
Mine, unfortunately, doesn't have Firefly, but has Triple Tap, perfect Balance and Grenadier. On my Voidwalker, it's as good (if not better) than the Hung Jury. Can't wait to get it up to 310.
Question: is this a Nightfall-only reward?
I absolutely love my Fatebringer, and I still run with it whenever a sub-300 light level is good enough. I have yet to find a comparable legendary HC.
I've been playing Undying Mind at various moments hoping to get it to drop, but no luck. Is it because I'm playing it on normal (selecting it in the Director)?

It drops on Normal, and (apparently) with roughly the same rate it drops on Heroic or Nightfall. This info comes from my farmer friend. ;)

If you are farming it during the nightfall this week, you might want to check out the video I posted at the start of this thread. We used a combination of Sleeper Simulant and Black Spindle to brute-force our way through the whole thing pretty quickly. I think the only shields in the strike are Void, but Solar Burn allowed us to rip through the void shields even with our solar weapons. We managed to kill the final boss before any of the Major adds had spawned, so we didn't even need to worry about them.

I had a TuS drop with Triple Tap, Explosive Rounds/Casket Mag/ Will of Light, Hidden Hand. I've never bothered to level it up due to MIDA for PvP and Hung Jury for PvE. Is it really that good of a weapon?

I have one
It's not my favorite gun, but I just have an ok roll on it. My main problem is it just doesn't fire as fast as I'd like a scout rifle to. I have the same problem with Boolean Gemini really.

I'd say YMMV. Personally, I've never been a huge fan of the Vision of Confluence archetype. Not that it isn't good, I just tend to prefer Scout Rifles that are tuned a bit more to one extreme or the other; hard hitters like Ghallion's Demise or fast ROF weapons like Mida. That said, Treads Upon Stars has very good base stats. Great range, decent ROF and clip size. I find the stability fine for PvE, not quite as tight as I like for PvP.
So given the option, I would rather use Mida or Hung Jury in PvP, and Hung Jury in PvE. But there is a lot to love about TuS, if that archetype clicks with you.

Perfect Balance makes it a very nice change from Hung Jury
It barely recoils and I've always liked the VoC archetype, Auto-Fire or not.

Question: is this a Nightfall-only reward?
It can drop on any difficulty, but the consensus (at least on the subreddit) is that the drop rate for strike-specific rewards increases when the strike is a nightfall. RNG is RNG, but I've gotten at least one strike-specific reward for the last four weeks of Nightfalls (running each 3x):
Shield Brothers dropped "Mau'ual's Maulers" and "Treads Upon Stars"
Valus Ta'aurc dropped "Treads Upon Stars"
Dust Palace dropped "Solar Flayer Mantle"
Fallen S.A.B.E.R dropped "Devouring Maw"

This has been my experience.

Streamer strategy
Some guys were apparently doing a very efficient farm earlier.
From ProbablyLast earlier:
Tfue is currently streaming him farming the Undying Mind strike. They weapons of light bubble in the back and snipe him down to a sliver of health. Two die and the third suicides with dragons breath. The boss dies at the exact moment the wipe countdown ends. Since that is entirely too complicated, we could just run the goddamn strike in 8 minutes.

Suros Dis 43
Full auto, appended mag, stability perk. Better than VOC. Unbelievable.

Why is it Better?
I feel like Suros weapons are inherently handicapped due to the way their Perk trees work. Specifically, it seems like they can have two mediocre perks and one "game changer" perk. For example, VoC has full auto AND zen moment, but the DIS 43 can only role with one of those two, as they occupy the same perk slot.

More stable. Higher range. Due to better base stats.

Third link describes it better.

thanks!
I will try and make some time this week!

That is extremely subtle. Napalm kill, not like Draksis. Eep

I freaking LOVE this thing!
Look at this shit!
I know this is totally old news, but I'd forgotten just how awesome it can be :D
Related note: does Firefly on a hand cannon do more damage than Firefly on a Scout Rifle? It sure seems to.

Pretty sure yes, it does.

I can't say I've tested to verify, but it would make sense. It's probably tied to the amount of damage the bullet itself does.
