UnWiping Away the past (Off-Topic)
Search the internet for the Team Negative One restoration of Star Wars. The group got a 35mm theatrical print from the original run, scanned it, cleaned it up, and released it on the internet. It looks great and very true to how it would have been seen at the time. It's the best quality version of the original release that most of us will ever see. It certainly looks like the VHS tapes I saw as a kid (but better quality obviously), and is how I remember it!
Why it took a group of amateurs thousands of dollars, tons of work, and a willful disregard for copyright law is beyond me.
Find it and enjoy it in 1080p while you can.
How does it compare to the de-specialized edition?

Thanks for the reminder. :)
Also, do you really think we won't see some sort of official restoration within the next decade with Disney's ownership? Especially after this?

They'd make money off it, so I'd vote it'll happen someday. :)

The guy who DID the despecialized edition says it's better. It is a 100% HD copy of the original film.
That said, there are some weird colour moments.
