Ever had the gun recoil before the shot was fired? (Destiny)

Last night, I had a baffling moment where I was certain I two body shot sniped a guy. I was so baffled I was immediately riddled with bullets from a MIDA and died.

If you watch the clip, first shot hits him in the chest and then freeze it ~21 seconds. I wish there was an indicator to show when I pulled the trigger, but I pulled it while the reticule was in the middle of his chest, and in the very next frame you see my bullet trail many feet over his head and my reticule up and to the left. Only explanation I have is that the recoil occurred before the bullet got down the tube, but somehow this happened in a digital world. Anyone else got any ideas or should I just accept that I'm bad at this? Or both? :)

I've definitely fired when the reticle was on a guy's head and missed (I've even seen the bullet go *through* the guy's head and still didn't get credit). Always thought it was lag rather than gun mechanics failing. That being said, I have noticed my weapon animating as if I'd fired but not actually producing bullets lately (last 2 weeks ish). Maybe related?

Lag?

Sounds like maybe he hit you just before you fired knocking off your aim. But you didn't notice because of the lag, then the shot went wide? I have to say, I'm not a fan of the changes Bungie has been making to lag compensation lately. It feels like weird things have been happening like this.

Network-based gaming is hard.

Definitely some odd stuff going on lately.

For some reason, no one on my team could pick up heavy. So while we're all standing around like a bunch of morons trying to figure out why we can't pick it, we get nuked and the other team run in and grabs it, no problem. It was a pretty close game until that point.

You can blame that on S1R G00D KN1GHT, who was redbar at the time. I've had that happen, and every time it has, there's been a redbar player nearby. :(
