When gaming pays off IRL (Destiny)
A month ago or so I received a message from a guy on my friends list. I haven't gamed with him much, but he's an ex-coworker's husband. He was really wanting to try for the black spindle. We ran the mission a few times without success that afternoon and I eventually had to leave to do some IRL stuff.
Later that night I had crawled into bed but just didn't feel right about him not getting the spindle. I pulled up the smartglass app and checked to see if he was still on. Sure enough, he was playing Destiny still. So I shot him a message and asked if he was able to get the spindle yet. No such luck yet. A few minutes later I was back in orbit and assembled the fireteam.
After watching a few videos on the best methods earlier in the day I felt pretty confident that we could get the spindle. fast forward a bit, we were able to beat the taken room with a few seconds minute to spare and get the drops for the fireteam. I finally got the ship, and he got the spindle and the ship. I can't for the life of me remember who else was with me on that run, but I'm pretty sure they got the ship also.
Well, I received a little surprise at the office today. Two delicious Hazelnut Nutella cupcakes
The coworker had left the company to start her own Cupcake business :)
