Some great stuff in here, drawing parallels between Destiny and Greek mythology. Seems well thought out, to me at least :)

Yeah, that was really good. There was a lot of ways of thinking about the story that I never really thought about before. Also there are some far reaching things too...

The NIne

We know noting about the nine? I was 90% sure that the grimoire said they were mind reading dragons who lived on the moons of Jupiter.

Not quite.

Ghost Fragment: Legends 2:
The Nine are survivors of the cis-Jovian colonies who made a compact with an alien force to ensure their own survival.
The Nine are deep-orbit warminds who weathered the Collapse in hardened stealth platforms.
The Nine are ancient leviathan intelligences from the seas of Europa or the hydrocarbon pits of Titan.
The Nine arrived in a mysterious transmission from the direction of the Corona-Borealis supercluster.
The Nine are the firstborn Awoken and their minds now race down the field lines of the Jupiter-Io flux tube.
The Nine are Ghosts who pierced the Deep Black without a ship and meditated on the hissing silence of the heliopause.
The Nine are the aspects of the Darkness, broken by the Traveler's rebuke, working to destroy us from within.
The Nine is a viral language of pure meaning.
The Nine are the shadows left by the annihilation of a transcendent shape, burned into the weft of what is.

Not quite.

It was something mentioned in passing in another grimoire card… maybe I am just misremembering.

I don't know... There seems to be very little research into the things we know about Destiny's universe and way too much trying to shove recent events in Destiny into the mold of greek mythology. There's all sorts of neat things that can be speculated on from the Grimoire... like the nature of the Darkness and The Traveler, or the identity and mission of the Exo Stranger, or wether or not Rasputin allowed the Collapse to take place in order to try and save himself.
There may be a little truth here and there, but so much is ignored that I wouldn't consider the article (or the reddit post it is pretty much directly pulled from) to be good speculation. :(
Maybe I'm a negative nancy, but the guy's really picking and choosing from what randos in the Destiny subreddit made up, most of which are inherently contradictory.
On the traveler
Prometheus *is* good. He created humans. Did the Traveler create humans? No. If that doesn't matter, he could be the Judeo-Christian god. The Traveler gives the gift of eternal life through the holy ghost, like our ghosts. Where are those in this explanation? Nowhere. Cause it doesn't fit, neither does Prometheus.
The nine
The article explains that The Nine are the aspects of Hindu god, Durga. Durga, called the formless, used celestial weapons created by other Hindu gods to finally destroy the reign of the demons on the earth and restore the reign of the gods. The nine give US celestial weapons so WE can kill demons!
Wait, sorry, that's not what it said.
The nine are the Ennead, literally meaning the group of nine, the gods worshipped at Heliopolis. Who is among their group? Osiris, right. The mysterious warlock of whom we know nothing yet, who seems to be related to sun stuff. Like HELIOPOLIS. Maybe he helps guide Xur the same way he helps guide the Trials.
Oh wait, it said they're the barely mentioned Council of the Nine from Greek myth, lacking any direct connection to Destiny other than one of them was a blacksmith. Of course, blacksmiths famously don't make guns. So that makes sense.
Eris did create trouble, yes, but not by the methods discussed. She pissed off the three gods, but Aphrodite caused the war. She promised Paris the most beautiful woman, Helen, whom he took. Then the war came.
I can't be bothered to go into it more.
As for the grand scheme of things, it's obvious. "Good guy isn't actually good, bad guy isn't actually bad" stuff. The game hints at this plenty of times. Zero surprise there. It's also the only thing I think we can really apply to the story. The rest of it can have parallels anywhere if you look hard enough. Not worth it, IMO. Particularly when Bungle mixes up tons of mythologies for the game.
Could have fooled me.

Wait, Destiny has a story?

Could have fooled me.
We're talking about Destiny 2... you know, that game that isn't out yet and we know nothing about? ;)

I laughed too hard.
Had to cut him out for decency.

That reminds me, I need to re-watch Bruno.

You recycle content worse than Bungie does

My impression from the article is they skimmed some reddit threads and made some guesses as what could be in the plot. Bungie's lore is quite deep, as seen from the grimore entries.
