Guardian Radio recently had a great lore episode that touched on the Traveler's final stand.
We know the Traveler abandoned the Fallen before it came to us, where it is implied it decided humanity was so awesome great that it was going to ally with us and make a final stand.
Right?
Ghost Fragment: Rasputin 5 gives a clue that the Traveler may have intended to abandon us as well, but that Rasputin actually prevented it; that the Traveler was forced to create the ghosts to defend ITSELF because it wasn't able to leave.

Perform deniable authorization: full caedometric and noetic release
Prevent [O] departure by any means available
Stand by for effect assessment criteria:
Coerce pseudoaltruistic [O] defensive action.
Defer civilization kill.

This has some cool implications story-wise. The Speaker, if a true representative for the Traveler, could be trying to let it escape or otherwise not be looking out for humanity's interests.
Also, considering the millions of sentient beings the Traveler was willing to kill with the God-Wave to keep the worms imprisoned, the Traveler may not be content to leave a bunch of immortal Guardian humans around when it is restored. It could easily use us to defeat the darkness, and then attempt to destroy us because we represent the same threat the worms/Hive do. It could very well turn our ghosts against us, all Star Wars Order 66-like.

Yeah, that whole part of the story is pretty interesting. I really hope we get to flesh out this particular piece of history/lore. I like how Rasputin calls the Traveler pseudo-altruistic. Great wording.
It could very well turn our ghosts against us, all Star Wars Order 66-like.
And this is why we should all turn our Ghosts into chocolate or candy and eat them. *nom*

I think it would be awesome if by the end of Destiny 2 or 3, we've defeated the evil enemy, the Traveler is awake, and then the Order-66 comes in. Imagine Destiny 3 or 4 being about us having to stop the Traveler. Talk about turning the world and story on its head.
