Better loot in update, NOT mentioned on the stream

Gothalion pointed out on Twitter that the Destiny site (destinythegame.com) has a line that states:

"Engrams now guaranteed to grant an item with Light value higher than players total Light"

Took me a little time to find it on the site, but go here, enter your light leve and click on "VISIT YOUR FACTION, Tower"

Yeah especially since it also mentions exotic engrams twice with two different light levels mentioned.

The exotic thing is a little ambiguous. It might be that this page was meant to only show one or the other, depending on whether the light level you input was above or below 310, and that function is just broken at the moment?

Since the thing about engrams being "guaranteed" to drop above your current light level specifically appears under the "visit your faction" section, I would guess it's specific to legendary engrams you get from factions. Probably a one-time thing that happens immediately after the update since faction reward packages typically give items directly, not engrams.

If you go down to the "Revisit Past Adventures" section you'll see the same text again but without the typo:

Exotic Engrams will now drop gear up to 335 Light

Non-Exotic Engrams now grant items up to 310 Light

So the context is that if you are below 310, your non-exotic engrams (blue and purple) will always decrypt at a higher light level than your character with a ceiling of 310. The same is true for exotic engrams but the ceiling is 335

This changes things, but I don't know that it matters as much at this point either. Faster to get new weapons up to light level I suppose. Get a better roll? Infuse. Done.
