Pretty light on news (reminder of Melee fix, CoE scores, Upcoming Twitch streams), but it's there for reading.

That speed-run, wow!
I was going to post about that, too. Robot Chickens, now you have something to strive for.

That speed-run, wow!
Damn, I was just happy to finish it flawlessly solo the other night.

I was thinking about doing a write-up with videos about how to get flawless raider if you don't have a fireteam. The strategies are much more reasonable than what I just saw, but they take a lot longer. I'm not sure there's any reason to anymore. Damn that was impressive.

Please post it
I'd like to know how to do it solo in case I never get a fireteam to do it.

Please post it
I'm sure we could put together a fireteam to get flawless raider for you. Crota is pretty easy to do.

I always wanted to take down Crota with Dragon's Breath...
Considering how Crota's shield regenerated I always thought the solar flare (now napalm canister) would be the ideal way to burn it down with constant dps.
Can I just say I love the new flame effect of Dragon's Breath? Love it, love it, love it.

Please post it
I may go ahead and do that then.
If you just need flawless, I've done it twice with fireteam's of two. Once with Morpheus and once with North. I'm happy to do it with you next time you're free. I find it easiest with fireteams of either 2 or 6. 2, because there are fewer people to mess up. 6, because you don't need to sword-fly anything.

That speed-run, wow!
How did he bypass the drop phase for Ir Yut? Normally you have to kill a bazillion of the enemies before you can move on.

You only have to kill the yellow-bar sword knights that originally spawn to move on. All other enemies can be ignored- even the yellow-bar reinforcements.
He was careful to take out the yellow-bar sword knights after he killed the first wizard. Then he killed the remaining sword-knights in the room right before Ir Yut.

You're on the Xbox, right? I'll ALWAYS do Crota, and ALWAYS Vault. I'll do Kings, but we'll need a reliable team.

How to
Easiest way, IMO:
Be a titan. Defender, higher jump, Gyllenhaal, raid boots.
Run through abyss.
Start bridge encounter, grab sword, jump to other side of bridge using a pillar.
Kill guys.
1 rocket per shrieker in hallway.
Just do ir yut quickly.
Take sword, go on raised walkway near boss. Drop sword. Drop bubble. Fire grenade and DB. Take sword, slam him. Run back to bubble. Do it again. End.

I need to get around to this too
This is my last needed achievement other than defeating Kings Fall on Hard mode!

I always wanted to take down Crota with Dragon's Breath...

Looks amazing, works great. Dragon's Breath went from being less-used than No Land Beyond in Year 1, to one of the vital exotics that I have multiple copies of (and the only Heavy that I have infused above 320).

Let's be honest here
The only reason it was that underused in Y1 was because we had Hunger/Gjallarhorn.

Nah, more like it was using up an exotic slot to leave you with a two-second solar grenade in the middle of where a rocket already killed/pushed away the enemies.
"But it was good for bosses!" Yeah, no. I'm not going to carry an exotic rocket launcher around just to put a couple of extra seconds of low-damage DPS on a boss. Bungie was clearly not happy with it, since they overhauled it completely.

That's exactly what everyone said about Gjallarhorn when Xûr first sold it. Also, exactly what everyone did with Gjallarhorn except for the "low-damage" part. Or did you frequently use it against mobs too?

Well, it still kind of does that, doesn't it? What's new? Trigger hold-trigger is pretty cool, but the napalm is arguably worse.

The huge difference is that Ghorn's wolfpack rounds had tracking, whereas Y1 Dragon's Breath only left damage in a very specific area that--as Korny said--usually no longer contained an enemy.

The way I see it, Dragon's Breath (both past and present versions) is an interesting weapon that has some very specific uses, but is ultimately undercut by Bungie's reliance on bullet-sponge enemies. For example, 1 or 2 Dragon's Breaths in the right hands can make a huge difference during the Abyss in Crota's End. They're a great way to clear "safe zones" at or between the lamps, giving your team some room to breath. Problem is the Crota's End raid is filled with Major-class foes, making Gjallarhorn the clear go-to exotic for most people, with the possible exception of Ice Breaker. Back when we were all level 30, CE Hard Mode was challenging enough that most teams needed all the DPS they could get, and that just didn't leave room for Dragon's Breath or most of the other exotics.
Things are better since Taken King, although if I'm going to take an exotic heavy into any end-game activities I find myself using Sleeper or Raze-Lighter almost exclusively. Although I do want to try taking Dragon's Breath into the Oryx fight one of these days. I was actually just talking about how the Oryx battle seems to be one of the most interesting encounters in Destiny in terms of the way many different weapons can fill niche roles within a team. Every time I run it, I see a mix of Sleepers, Black Hammers, Touch of Malice, Eirene RR4's and 1KYSs, Quillem's Terminus, etc. It's not like the Crota days where we reach the boss and 6 Gjallarhorns come out :)

Gjallarhorn was/is great against everything. Groups of enemies, Majors, bosses, Guardians. Not only did you have a fast-flying rocket launcher with tracking and Horseshoes, but after the initial blast, you'd have a whole slew of mini-rockets hunting down/stacking damage on enemies. There was a time where Gjallarhorn saw more use than most other weapons in a single mission/match.

Nope, Napalm covers a far greater area, lasts three times as long, and can be used over cover. Pair it with a Defender or Skyburner's Annex, and you're spewing orbs left and right.

Well, never saw much use out of it with mobs. Saw a lot of wolfpacks seeking already-dead enemies to make them that useful.

Well, that could've been implemented with the flares, I think, and be a little better. I don't really like how the napalm is confined to the ground, though I do appreciate the extra seconds it stays there.

....All Dragon's Breath Atheon?
