There's no way Bungie will prevent people who weren't crazy like us from getting a new gun/content.
Either you'll be able to re-acquire it some way a la husk of the pit, or it won't be required at all.

That isn't how the Spindle or NTTE worked.
Pretty safe to assume the completely useless weapon will remain completely useless.

Husk was introduced at the same time as the Necro/(whatever the legendary version was called) and was only created to make the Necro harder to obtain.
Spindle and NTTE were created based on the popularity of the original guns, which is the more relevant comparison.
Obviously they could do something different this time. But, then we should also be worried about needing a year 1 Gyllenhaal for the new crappy one.

There's a solid chance that gun is literally just the white 5 damage gun from the beginning of the game.
Also, Bingle hasn't kept much consistent through the updates. Levelling, exotics, upgraded guns, et cetera. There's also a solid chance that we're going to have to relearn how to progress in the game again.
If we're spitballing, no reason to hold off on what we spitball.
