GI Article: Three Days playing RoI... (Destiny)

by Korny @, Dalton, Ga. US. Earth, Sol System, Wednesday, August 10, 2016, 19:27 (3120 days ago)

Sounds like it's recaps and impressions that have already been shared, but it's nice to read about it all in one place (well, four pages).

Haven't been able to keep up with the specifics of RoI much myself, so this tidbit was new to me:

Those ornaments to adjust your Trials armor are going to be hard to come by. I guess they’re going to be rewards for going flawless. That’s going to be a challenge! By the way, that same mastery sentiment guides the Raid ornaments – Bungie suggested that those may come from Challenge Mode chests in Wrath of the Machine.

Sounds like some of those "prestige" things that Bungie talked about since before the launch of the game.

No Vault Space additions

I guess dropping the old consoles doesn't help alleviate that limitation.

I just wish I could use the pointless armor/consumables tabs to store more weapons that I'll never use.

I truly don't think there is limitation to the amount (ok, well maybe, like in the thousands or something) I think it has more to do with encouraging people to use and try more armor\weapons instead of either (a) hoarding everything or (b) only sticking to the same few items.

The positive way to look at it is you are experiencing more of the game and seeing all the options at your disposal.

The negative way to look at it is another way of keeping you on that 'treadmill'.

I am guilty of 'B' personally.

If drop rates weren't garbage...

Given how long it takes to get some of the more unique raid items, I'm loath to shard them for space, even if my VoG armor sets are woefully outdated. It would be nice if they could put them in a kiosk after I've unlocked them or something, if they aren't going to keep bumping vault space. I've already had to shard all my HoW armor sets to make room for my growing exotic collection. I really don't want to dump my VoG,CE and KF collections. Do you know how many Oryx kills it takes to get that stupid helmet???

Drop rates being way too good is the reason we have this vault crap problem anyway. If the rates were lower, we would only have a few guns and gear and they'd be good. Because the drop rates are so freaking high none of the gear is any good so we can't say "doesn't have field scout, shard it." We see stuff and say "well, it doesn't have counterbalance, but it has braced frame...I guess I can keep it around."

Or just delete everything in the vault.

by ProbablyLast, Thursday, August 11, 2016, 23:57 (3119 days ago) @ Funkmon

Because it serves literally no purpose at all. All of the old armor is actually irrelevant (aside from heavy ammo boots) and none of the guns will ever be relevant again.

Or, if they do make the objectively correct decision to bring back Etheric Light, you can just go re-earn those items and delete the terrible items that we are stuck using currently.

I still don't know exactly how they would do it, but I really wish they would just separate the PvP and PvE ecosystems. I don't play PvP at all, stop making my guns worse because people that play Crucible are bitching, please.

Yeah, they've proven they could do it when they made shotguns fun to use during HoW. Hopefully in Destiny 2 that happens.

I don't even hate PvP that much. I just hate the people who complain about how much everything needs to be nerfed.

I wonder how many of these people actually think this versus how many people are told to think this. I was talking to Coldairfilter a few months ago. "Thorn needs to be nerfed." "Why?" "It's OP." "How?" He didn't have an answer. He just listens to the Youtubists.

He wasn't wrong, though.

But at least he isn't calling for lightning grenades to be nerfed. That would be really dumb.

don't delete anything until after RoI

we don't know what the vendors will be selling yet. All the Y2 gear in your vault is a repository of legendary marks. could really be useful in the early stages of leveling

Avatar

IIRC, that's Chappy's excuse.

"I have 42 artifacts for each character all levelled up so I can dump them for 5 marks a piece."

Sad part: I have now adopted this strategy.

The twist: Pre-RoI gear will not longer give legendary marks upon dismantle.

I wouldn't be surprised.

But I dress as Crota for halloween...

by Durandal, Friday, August 12, 2016, 16:57 (3118 days ago) @ ProbablyLast

I mean, put on the glowhoo, the CE Titan Raid armor and use a sword and the crota mask in the crucible. It is hilarious.

Also, the Titan VoG helmet is still awesome looking. I'm not deleting it till there is a new one that looks the same.

I'm not that set on KF gear though. I'll probably shard it for the new raid armor, which has a very cool stealth jetfighter vibe going on.
