7 kills in 1 stormtrance.

I'm actually disappointed in the "xbox record that" b/c i waited until the match ended before saving the recording, and it still stopped before the final scout rifle kill at the end.

There's an easy way to fix that--5 minute recording length, and Xbox Smartglass! ;-)

yeah, but i thought waiting a goo 5+ seconds would give me enough buffer on the end, but it didn't. I should've snapped the Game DVR instead of using the voice command

Edit: i was unaware that smartglass could be used to create a recording

Oh yeah, world's biggest lifesaver. You can get it on your computer or your phone. Luckily, I have both next to me.
So when you're getting ready to play something, a "record that" button will be at the bottom. I either keep my mouse cursor over the button, or turn off auto-lock on my phone-instant response time; the clip ends the millisecond you click/tap. The best part! No snapping so the menu doesn't show up or pause the game! Perfect for MCC and others.

This sounded like a pretty ringing endorsement, so I gave it a try. Seems a little bit flakier on my iPhone than what you've described here. ;)

(The 'Record That' button is only present when you've actually got Destiny live on the screen - but any changes to game state drops you out of that. So starting orbit, starting the flying to a planet, landing just before a game - all of these throw you out of the 'now playing' app and back to the home screen. If I don't remember to restart the 'now playing' at the beginning of every game (and not the VERY beginning, but far enough in that the game state doesn't change any more), that button doesn't exist. ;)

I dunno - double-tap center button + X seems just as easy. :)

Does it work with the Cortana thing? So I can finally yell 'Xbox record that' into my mic when I fail hilariously?

"Cortana, record that." But yes.

Btw, is the "Hey" optional? Can I just say "Cortana"?

Nope. She demands you address her "Hey Cortana".

Nice. I'm about to make so many useless clips of Funk missing golden gun shots.

do you have to enable Cortana? I just did the update last week or whenever it was and went on to playing destiny. saying "Xbox record that" still works for me.

Avatar

Yes you can enable her in settings.

It sure can, after you fish your phone out, put in your passcode (because you definitely don't leave your private life open like a dumbass), then spend the next 45 seconds typing your MS account user name and password IN FULL on the phone because the XBox app logged you out FUCKING AGAIN.

TBH I'm thinking of turning it off. Whereas the old way responded pretty much right away, Cortana has to sit there parsing the whole sentence for several seconds, figuring out each individual word. Only when she does that and THEN determines it fits a command, does it get executed. I guess that's the downside of not being limited to a small set of commands.

Don't forget the 2-step verification!

I completely stopped using the 360 Smartglass app because the 2-step was broken. You had to switch to an authenticator app to check your code, but when you did, Smartglass would reset the entire log-in process. Fun!

The thing that gets me is that it's even asking at all. Other apps of that type just leave you logged in, but MS' apps (both of them) automatically log out after some period of time.
