The first version of my userstyle is up, tightening whitespace and making the thread view a little more reminiscent of the HBO Forums:

Get it here*, post feedback and further suggestions below, and enjoy scrolling and eye-scanning less when all hell brakes loose in a couple of hours!
*Like all userstyles, it works in almost any browser under the sun, but best with the Stylish extension (Firefox and Chrome).
