Imagine a world where Guerilla Fighter is a useful perk... (Destiny)
Boy, I've been on a roll today... Chalk it up to being Sammyless all weekend. :(
Anyway, at least I've been productive by playing lots of video games!
So anyway, third-person mechanics are a small, but very interesting part of Destiny (the Last Rites mission is almost entirely in third-person, and as Cyber showed me, you can even test out weapon bloom and such), and while I enjoy is as a first-person shooter, I really wish that Bungie would give us the option to go full third-person, Skyrim style.
So I took some pictures to show what the game would look like if it played like a cover shooter. There's a full album here, but here are some highlights:
Also, I took a number of photos that make me extra sad that we don't have a proper theater mode, but also happy because I at least have a way to emulate a theater mode (which wasn't easy to do). Album here, samples here:
PS. I finally completed my Exotic Sword quest this weekend! :v

Those pics are amaaaaaazing.
Congrats on your sword!

Hey Korny,
Once Destiny is patched for HDR (fingers crossed), I'd really enjoy helping with something like this. It's impressive that you managed this, but didn't you say Sammy was out of town? I really don't know how you took some of these on your own.

Definitely. Especially once rise of Iron drops, I imagine that Private Matches might bring about some really great projects.

Yeah, she was gone, so I had plenty of time to develop a system that ultimately involved using my pinky and ring fingers on one controller, while having the rest on the other controller held above it. The hardest part was getting the AI to behave correctly for some shots. They either never got in front of the reticle, or they would waste one of the Guardians in no time, and I'd have to set the shot up again while in combat (ten times worse on the Dreadnaught, and most of the shots I didn't even end up using), or I'd have to reposition entirely, because the AI tends to retreat more than anything.
You'd also be surprised at how easy it was to move around with tank-ish controls by using the screen as a stationary camera angle (similar to early Resident Evil games), but most of the time I'd position the main screen, then move my character around to a good spot, then reposition the camera for a good shot. Took 300+ screenshots over the course of about four or five hours, but I would learn something new every few shots or so, and I'd often go back and re-do things. Really glad that I didn't delete any of my Hunter's starting gear, though. I'd probably have gotten too frustrated trying to learn things if I hadn't started at the beginning area and slowly worked my way up to more complicated scenes and encounters. Plus, it helped sell the concept a bit, I think...

It did! I was wondering if you'd started a new character. Relieved for your sake that you didn't.
EDIT: come to think of it, you couldn't have started a new character and had the second character there. Durr.
