Thanks Bungie for fixing Salvage! (Destiny)

In case you haven't played Salvage since the update, I'd highly recommend you give it a shot. The changes Bungie implemented have actually made this a fun gametype to play. I've still seen a few teams that want to try and play skirmish, but overall, if you just play the objective you'll have a good chance at winning. About the only thing I don't like is that it takes longer to disable the probe. this makes you extremely vulnerable while disabling the probe. Anyway, thanks for the changes Bungie!

Yeah it did seem better. Now if only something could be done about the rampant corpse humping and people yelling profanity over voice chat...

Pfft. Lost Cause.

'Cause: Principles are results. They are ends in themselves.

No. It's a quote from the UNSC ONI Section Zero internal affairs officer Herzog from ilovebees. He's letting his car drive him as he does paperwork and gets a call from Standish, a ruthless ONI intelligence operative. The previous line of dialogue from Standish is:
The real problem is that you and I have always seen the world differently. I am willing to sacrifice principles for results.
If you haven't listened through ilovebees recently I'd highly recommend it. Fantastic writing backed up by fantastic voice and sound work. Easily in the top three of my favorite things to come out of the Halo universe.

^ No joke

Standish: …she was a problem. But, she wasn't the real problem.
Herzog: No, the real problem was that you're a dictator and we live in a democracy.
Standish: The real problem is that you and I have always seen the world differently. I am willing to sacrifice principle for results.
Herzog: Principles are results, they are ends in themselves.
Standish: No, results are results.
[Vehicle]: Switching from automatic guidance to manual.
(Herzog grunting as he struggles with the controls)
Standish: Herzog. At the bottom of this hill, watch out for the bridge.
(comm off)
[Vehicle]: I'm sorry, manual breaking at this speed is not recommended. If you would like me to apply automatic deceleration, please--
(enormous crash, loud splash, static)
Raga's not kidding -- ILB is a fantastic piece of work. If you haven't listened to it yet (I'm looking at you, Earendil!), then remember a time back when humanity was getting wiped away by the Covenant and our colonies were disappearing one-by-one. Before Reach fell. Then go listen to it from top to bottom. :)
been there

Listened to that.
It was good :)

53 to 100; my thoughts
by unoudid , Somewhere over the rainbow, Monday, September 12, 2016, 00:51 (3087 days ago) @ unoudid
Just finished up a long weekend of playing salvage for Grimoire. Went from something like 53 wins up to 100 over the course of the weekend. That was brutal, but fun in general.
General thoughts on the changes:
- Love the fact that you can play the game type now and actually win a match.
- The disable probe timer is just crazy long. You can get it, but it's much harder than before. I kinda wish I had a button on my controller dedicated to just holding X during salvage (I could do this with my controller, but whatever).
- Fireteams/communication is key. This should be a no brainer, but those revive points, and revive locations makes games so much better. Coordinating supers and deploying probes makes things easier.
- The respawn locations if you don't get revived are just brutal now. You typically spawn at the farthest possible spot away from the relic making it nearly impossible to make an attempt to disable the probe.
- Defender/Fun Police builds are great for both offensive/defensive attacks on the probe. Nothing like dropping a bubble on the probe to get a double/triple kill and a disable.
Anyway, Finally got my 5 grimoire points I "needed" and had a great time. Even got to watch Zero get a mark of the unbroken during one match.

One of my complaints about the old version was the long time you had to defend vs the milliseconds it took to disable the probe so I'm pretty accepting of anything that makes the attackers lives more difficult. But yeah, I did find the process of holding X and trying to do anything else a good bit... not frustrating exactly, but... taxing?
