Did I miss something? Can't pre-order RoI on the Xbox... (Destiny)

by ZackDark @, Not behind you. NO! Don't look., Wednesday, September 14, 2016, 01:09 (3085 days ago)

Neither the American MS store nor the Brazilian one are letting me buy RoI (pre-order bundle or stand-alone). Did anyone mention this before?

Only thing I had to do was make sure I was logged in if you're using the website. If you're not it will be greyed out.

That's... awkward, to say the least. I'm absolutely sure I was already logged on the Xbox page, but it seems the redirect to MS store doesn't share authentication.

I know, I know. I wish it wouldn't have been such a hassle to buy after it launched, but there is a very real possibility I would've been unable to for over 2 weeks, for bureaucratic reasons.

But can we buy just the update?

by ChrisTheeCrappy, Wednesday, September 14, 2016, 12:46 (3085 days ago) @ ZackDark

I went to do it myself, but I have to buy all parts o fit for $60. Is that correct? I can't just preorder the update?

You can. I know I did. But I did it a while back. Also my brother did as well. Just make sure you are logged in. The price should be $40, otherwise you are doing it wrong :D

I've been hearing some folks online say that it's $40, but when I preordered last week, it was $30 (and is still $30 on PSN). What gives? I checked the Microsoft store, and for me it says that it's only available as part of a Bundle, and the alternate preorder page still doesn't allow you to buy it. And I am indeed logged in.

9/9/2016- Rise of Iron $29.99

So the Xbox folks are not only getting less, they're paying more? Does Microsoft seriously charge taxes on digital downloads? That's 300 Silver right there...

That's what happened to me yesterday when I tried to buy it on Xbox.com, but it worked when I accessed the store directly through my actual Xbox.

Here is what they told me about Xbox One

by ChrisTheeCrappy, Wednesday, September 14, 2016, 13:34 (3085 days ago) @ ChrisTheeCrappy

Apparently they stopped the other preorder, no reason. It was fine but now you can't buy until 9/30.....no reasoning. You do need to have Taken King to be allowed to order.

They then sent me to Gamestop to purchase.

I might be based on where you live (even though it's digital) or Sony just adds it to the price so it equals $29.99. Sony can't just say "Let's not put a tax on this"

It tells me it's only part of the RoI Collection bundle. Not the update itself.

The update is a part of a bundle, it's called "Destiny: Rise of Iron - Pre-order" I know you mentioned that you are logged in already, but make sure you actually are, not because I think you're stupid, but because I think Xbox/Microsoft's new online store is. When I went to check it said my username and then next to it said something like "Logged out" and I had to click on it to actually log in. And here is the link directly to the page where you pre-order: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/destiny-rise-of-iron-pre-order/c3tbg0pc3fc9

Just confirmed with 2 different people, if you go to the right page (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/destiny-rise-of-iron-pre-order/c3tbg0pc3fc9) and are actually signed in, you should have a blue pre-order button.

I did it from my Console as well. DOn't think I can be NOT signed in on the console, while playing over xbox live. That website won't work.

I dunno then man, I've checked with others who can buy it right now, so it might be a problem with your account if you can't pre-order it even on your console :(

it's based on the sales tax rate of where you live. I just looked mine up for xbox, and it was $32.46.

Pretty sure it has to do with the court settlement against Amazon. They have to charge sales tax on online purchases in states where they have a physical presence.

But can we buy just the update?

I cleared mine and it only made it worse on Safari. Just very odd, cause atleast for me, Xbox itself wouldn't let me buy it. That's the way I did it first.

I preordered through Microsoft, but...

by BeardFade ⌂, Portland, OR, Sunday, September 18, 2016, 22:38 (3080 days ago) @ ZackDark

... can't figure out what to do next. I wasn't given a redemption code and I can't find a way to make sure it's hooked up with my account on the correct Xbox. I have this issue where because my wife and I have two Xbox Ones, I have to buy my games on the Xbox she uses but is called my home Xbox, and vice versa for games she wants so that we can both play them on the Xbox we typically use. I'm not seeing anything on my Xbox to confirm I bought the pre-order (but Microsoft gave me a receipt, took my money, and says I own it).

I just want to know if there's something I'm missing that those of you who ordered on Microsoft know about.

Wouldn't this be easier if there were family accounts for Xbox? Gah.
