Pre order and you get both the Iron Gjallerhorn and Iron Gjallerhorn Sparrow. It does say "at participating retailers," but the fine print at the bottom says they're not exclusive to any retailer, which led me (and many others) to believe that any retailer participating in the pre-order sales would also be giving out the bonuses.

I don't generally support pre-orders, but I sure as hell support being honest about what people are buying, and it's infuriating that I and - if the Bungie.net forums are to be believed - so many others who pre-ordered the game from Amazon are not getting the code for the sparrow.

Amazon tech support is awash with contradictory statements, ranging from "not our problem" to "you'll get a code in the next 24 hours" so I don't know what to believe there. Bungie has said nothing at all about it despite the many posts about it on their help forum.

I'd really like some sort of official word on the matter, even if it's just "we're aware of the issue and working on a solution."

You can just get XBox Live credit from Amazon, for your Amazon Credits...

I buy almost everything directly from Sony or Microsoft even if I've got oodles of Amazon credit.

If you're buying discs Amazon gives 20% off of pre-orders.

My buddy pre-ordered the game for me and gifted it via amazon, so... the benefit is that's just how he did it. Not my call.

No, the purchase was a gift so it shows up in my collection and not his. My code for the iron gjallerhorn came through to my email just fine. It's just the sparrow that's missing.

Per Reddit, there is apparently an ongoing cover-up.

Their customer service rep explained that there was nothing they could do to get me GjallerWing, and was sorry that the advertising on their website and on Bungie's website both led me to believe that the GjallerWing was included in the pre-order, so they credited $10 to my account.

Now I could buy silver with that, but I'm loathe to send more money to Bungie in order to get a thing they told me I should already have.

I haven't used it yet, because I'm at work, but it would seem I'll be Gjallerwinged after all. I also can't tell if they reversed the $10 credit, but I would hope they did since they made good on the original advertising.
