Question on Xbox accoints and ROI (Off-Topic)
by bluerunner , Music City, Wednesday, September 21, 2016, 15:34 (3152 days ago)
I bought ROI on my account. Lil'Blue also plays on my Xbox One, and so far anything I have bought he has been able to play. It is not letting him play ROI and says he needs to purchase it. I've tried signing us both in at the same time but that doesn't work. Do I have to purchase it on his account too? Is anybody else able to get it to work on family accounts?

Close the app completely, and if Xbox has some sort of "restore licenses" option, do that, then (logged on to your account) load it up, then close the app, and load it up on his account.
Had the same issue on PS4, and when I did that, Sammy got all of the preorder bonuses somehow. *shrug*

Happened to me, too.

I haven't figured out a work around for this yet. I bought the pre-order through the Microsoft store because it was unavailable through the Xbox store. My wife and I have Xbox's that are ours and then we set our "home" one to each others Xbox, so she can play her games on mine and vice versa. It's worked up til now.
Yesterday, I logged in on her Xbox (which is my "home" xbox) and it automagically fired up Rise of Iron without a problem. But when I tried logging her in from the same Xbox (which has always worked until now) it said I did not have Rise of Iron for her. I'm not happy about this. She doesn't play much, but I don't want to spend another $30 when I shouldn't have to.
Other things to note, Microsoft did not give me a purchase code to redeem when I bought it (hence the automagically working part of this).
I will try the solution mentioned above when I get home tonight, but I have a feeling Microsoft got another $30 out of me. Gah.
Same issue. Ponied up another 30 bucks...

Junior and I got up early yesterday (relatively; we missed all the server issues) and his "home" Xbox wouldn't unlock the content for his GT.
If you guys find a solution, please advise!

I'm not sure exactly what makes ours different but I'll describe the conditions as thoroughly as possible.
Rellekh preordered RoI through Gamestop and received a redemption code.
Rellekh's "home" xbox is my machine (My home xbox is Rellekh's machine). She logged into Destiny on my machine.
The Destiny interface showed all the new content as locked. She clicked on the RoI emblem and choose to enter the code. This kicked her out to the xbox interface.
Initially it defaulted to my account for the xbox interface. We decided to redo the whole thing with my account completely logged off (not signed in in the background). This worked and the transition from destiny to the xbox interface kept her account as the one making the decisions.
She entered the code and it gave her a credit. Before purchasing RoI, she redeemed her Iron sparrow and rocket launcher codes.
She then went back to the destiny interface and chose the purchase option which gave her the choice to redeem her credit. Once that was done, all content was unlocked, and she signed out.
I used my account to sign in and received all the content (oddly enough including the preorder exclusive sparrow and rocket launcher). She is not signed in in the background as this point.
She then went to her xbox and signed in with no trouble accessing the content.
Update:
I cannot access the content on her machine (which is my home xbox). This is different than in the past where I used to be able to use her xbox as long as she was signed in in the background.

Well done! I'm glad it's working for you guys.
Beard or Blue - I think I'm in the same boat with you in that I preordered from the MS store and did not get a redemption code like Rellekh. Let me know if you discover a solution and maybe I can get a refund (wishful thinking).

I got mine through the Microsoft store. I'll try Korny's method when I get home.

I got it working

This is a weird one. I logged in, then went to the games & apps page and selected manage game. Even though I have been playing and have collected the pre-order stuff, it showed ROI and the pre-order stuff in the ready to install section. I selected them and installed. They instantly installed. I then swapped to his profile and it was unlocked.

Could have saved some folks $30...

If they poked around for a couple of minutes...
Instead of an account license (granted on purchase on PS4), it's a download file. Good for people to keep in mind for future Xbox purchases. When Sammy ran into that Issue, I told her "ah, it's just the license, must not have logged in to activate it", just so she wouldn't worry, while actually having no idea what was going on or what to do. Clicking the "Restore licenses" and logging on fixed it, so I assumed that it was the issue, and played it off like I had known all along. You'd be surprised at how far you can make it in life by faking and winging it.

That's what she said
