Just presented my first offering, recommended light was 320 I'm 347, I was just watching it unfold from my perch not realizing I can be locked out of my own event? Said it was too dangerous? What the heck? And my offering is just gone even though I didn't get to use it?

Did this happen to anyone else?

Bungie help has a good article up about archon forge. You have to hop down quickly and unlike coo you use it you lose it. Also worth mention you can only carry one offering per character and can't transfer via the app

Then why not have the animation that closes off the forge start from the back of that area and force you off the ledge. Horribly UI implementation.

Yeah, I lost my first key by not realizing I had to go down, and I haven't found another one yet.

Same thing happened to Junior and I. And it was a Perfected offering.

Is it worth mentioned that you need to destroy the first SIVA cluster when the giant orb opens? 'Cause we failed at that point also...

You COULD transfer it via app the first day. They must have updated the app on purpose to make it harder for some reason.

Not to make it harder, people were duping offerings by transferring an offering while it was being used.

The arena locks shortly after the offering is used. If you don't get in, you have to sit it out unless you use a splicer key.

When it says it's too dangerous, this means everyone inside has died and nobody is left in the arena. This means if you are doing it solo you can't die at all.

Using your offering consumes it even if you fail (or don't enter!) the event.

It's a bad system.

Agreed. The Forge really feels like a last-minute addition. It's in an awkward location, the arena and encouncter design is very basic, the enemies are either curb-stompable pushovers, or invincible bullet sponges, and the key system is very poorly implemented.

Still, it can get very fun if enough people are there with lots of keys. They were clearly going for one of Borderlands 2's Brawl arenas, but probably threw it together in crunch, and it's clearly the weakest part of RoI. I wish they'd overhaul it, because the concept is tons of endless fun, and the rewards were great (it's how I got my helmet, and possibly my But Not Forgotten sniper).

The bullet sponge bosses are clearly meant to be killed with the axes, but the axes and proving yourself worthy are stupid simple to get. It's head scratching that it is so simple that they might as well have just give them to you automatically.

It's clearly designed to push you from one end of the arena to another (lest you try to shoot past dozens of angry enemies). The concept of what they were going for is there, but it was just so poorly planned and executed, that the whole thing feels off, from the moment you show up, to the moment you waste a purple key just because the DPS wasn't quite high enough.
