So... the Sword of Crota... I think I (or Bungie) broke it.. (Destiny)
...or rather Bungie did.

It seems the first time you pick it up it does very low damage. Three or so slices to kill a Thrall. An Acolyte can survive a normal chop attack. Oddly, after I died it started working normally so I'm not exactly sure what's up. I did switch to my The Young Wolf's Howl... so maybe that reset the Sword of Crota's damage or something?
Very strange...

You're Playing On Heroic, Bro.
No more free rides.
Just thank the Lord God they didn't do the same for Crota. XD
Swarm Princes take more sword swings than Crota now

Doesn't really explain the regular DMG on 2nd pick-up

You broke something
Took me only one hit for the low tier mobs, but those Knights just wouldn't go down. It reminded me of the first time I did the mission.

Exactly
The weird part here is that it changed. Only way that would make sense is if whatever Raga was using in the heavy slot before switching heavies was REALLY low light, enough to bring his overall light down significantly.

Exactly
Yeah, its a good idea. Unfortunately, I pretty much keep my 364 rocket launcher in that slot or I switch it out for my 351 sword. The lowest light Heavy my Titan is carrying right now is a 310 Sleeper Simulant but I was not using it at all yesterday.

This thread is weird - I actually felt like things went more SMOOTHLY with the sword than almost ever before. (I haven't run that mission in a long time, and when it came up as the daily heroic, I worried; for me, close-quarters fighting with lots and lots of enemies can be stressful. But everything died like they were made of paper, and I actually thought, "huh - Bungie made that sword better!" I mean, they clearly upped the graphics recently - it's beautiful now! - but it felt like they made it WORK better. Then I come here, and people are saying it doesn't work at all.
(Took me less than 10 minutes, start to finish.)

Well, only one person has really had a unique issue. No one else has had the super-low damage thing.

Durandal mentioned the knights being hard to take down. I found the opposite to be true; in the old days, my technique for killing the princes was simple, but slow: I would wait until my super charged, then take one shot at him, then run away. (If I were feeling really frisky, I might try and get a second shot in.) I played this way because if I stuck around, he WOULD kill me.
Yesterday, I just stood in front of him, whaling away. Each hit staggered him enough that he couldn't fight back. (I got hit ONCE, by one prince. Otherwise, it was a slaughterfest.)
