Weird (Destiny)

When I've been playing I'll get the "your worth will be tested message" and then I'll essentially spawn snipe the cluster. This kills it before the dome is even 50% of the way open. I won't get the "impressive" message until I kill another cluster. I wonder if this has to do with the speed at which the first one is killed?
