Which Snipers Should I Drop?(Text Wall) (Destiny)
I'm at 108, and 30 for every slot in weapons. I'm officially in danger of missing important engrams.
I've been trying to trim the fat, but it just seems to grow back immediately. So a thought occurred--I have too many snipers. I'm terrible at them, I only use them in specific situations, and there are FAR too many for them ALL to be worth something. So with that in mind, I'm going to post every single non-exotic sniper I have, and leave the trimming to you guys. It isn't like last time, where everything was a duplicate--there are very few, if any--duplicates here. So please make sure to pay attention to them!! I will include numbers, for your listing convenience.
For now, I'm just adding main perks. If you want to know more about one, like scopes or modifiers, let me know.
Okay, so shall we begin?
1. The Laughing Heart--Firefly/Grenadier.
2. Seventh Sense--Grenadier/Spray and Play and Firefly.
3. But Not Forgotten--Hidden Hand/Army of One.
4. Her Fury--Eye of the Storm and Firefly.
5. Y-09 Longbow Synthesis--Guerilla Fighter and Unflinching.
6. 1000 Yard Stare--Army of One and Hidden Hand
7. 1000 Yard Stare--Army of One and Firefly
8. The Laughing Heart--Firefly/Grenadier.(might have to add the specifics later...)
9. But Not Forgotten--Perfect Balance and Firefly/Grenadier.
10. But Not Forgotten--Hidden Hand/Grenadier.
11. 20/20 AMR7--Unflinching and Mulligan.
12. Extrasolar RR4--Army of One and Firefly.
13. Eirene RR 4--Army of One and Battle Runner.
14. Eirene RR 4--Luck In the Chamber and Shoot to Loot.
15. Stillpiercer.
16. 20/20 AMR7--Hidden Hand and Shoot to Loot.
17. Her Benevolence--Clown Cartridge and Shoot to Loot.
18. Subtle Nudge DN7--Rodeo and Surplus.
19. Violator XII--Outlaw and Shoot to Loot.
20. Y-09 Longbow Synthesis--Unflinching and Firefly.

There's no point for low impact snipers in this game.. this includes PvP and PvE. I'd trash these for sure.
I basically just keep one of each elemental damage type with perks I like for the 1000 yard stare archetype (1000ks, Longbow, But Not Forgotten, Eirene , Ex Machina) or the Black Spindle archetype (Spindle, Devil's Dawn, Event Horizon)
My perfect type of sniper is a hidden hand, snapshot version with either the shortgaze or longview slr10 scope.

It may not be good for res sniping, but the high aim-assist is helpful for people who are usually terrible at sniping.
I know this sniping lane is pretty much amateur hour for snipers and none of these are really spectacular shots, but I'm usually beyond terrible with snipers. For the first half of this one game, though, every time I pulled the trigger on my Laughing Heart, someone died.
Also, the weapon just sounds really cool :p

Exactly.
The problem is that there's a really good positive for every single sniper on this list.
The Laughing Heart is Iron Banner, and they don't just put that tree on any weapon for no reason...
Seventh Sense has been very good to me--I feel in control when I use that weapon, and when I hit or miss, it feels like a hit or miss, not luck or random BS.
But Not Forgotten has one of my favorite range/stability balances, and it feels extremely powerful in my hands.
Her Fury is almost like the Bad News Bears of snipers--deceiving looks.
Synthesis is a Crucible powerhouse--and the ones I have are very good.
1000 Yard Stare...I mean, come on.
20/20 AMR7 is THE fastest firing sniper in the entire Solar System. Fast enough that Impact doesn't matter.
Eirene, of course highest Impact.
Subtle Nudge, second fastest.
That's the problem!

Exactly.

I keep getting these as rewards for crucible games, but I've just been using them as infusion fuel. Maybe I should hang on to one and try it out next time.
Wait, now you've got me looking to add more snipers to my collection. I think that's the opposite of what you were going for in with this thread :p

Shard them all

20/20 AMR7 is a 3-body shot kill in crucible plus the weapon has the worst ammo amount to damage potential in the game for snipers. Just keep infusing them.

But a super high ROF sniper just sounds fun!
I admittedly hang on to a lot of stuff that has no practical use, but is just plain fun to use. As a case in point, the IF Materia is one of my favorite weapons in the game, but most everyone else thinks it's garbage. It's not a great machine gun, especially compared to a high stability, extended mag Silvered Dread, but hearing the Triple Double perk proc every tenth of a second and dumping almost all of my reserve ammo into a boss with a huge crit area in a single trigger pull is just stupid fun :p

It's not that super-high. Both my Bitter Edge and my Weyloran's Marches are within 7% of that firing rate, and Glass Promontory, Seventh Sense, Extrasolar RR4 and Praedyth's Revenge (!!!) aren't far behind. unoudid's right - the downsides to that gun far outweigh the upsides. (I say that as someone with 3 of 'em. :) )

In Defense of the Laughing Heart
I just went to the Lighthouse using Laughing Heart, so that's another point for it.
Unoudid is correct about pretty much everything, but if you can't hit anyone with the weapon you are using, the perks don't matter much. I have a pretty darn good roll on a couple 1K stares, but just hate the feel of the weapon. Praedyths was my favorite sniper, but I haven't really found a replacement for it in Y2 and Y3. The Laughing Heart feels really good though.

Too bad we can't add quotes to a signature line lol
What really made me sad about the 20/20 AMR7 is that I had a shortgaze, hidden hand, snapshot, performance bonus version drop and then I had to shard it because of how crappy the gun is overall.

That 7%, though ;)

It'll at least be worth unlocking any fun perks, finding a crowd of low-level mobs, and unloading a few clips as fast as I can into them. If I don't find myself laughing maniacally by the time I run out of ammo, I guess I'll have to shard it :p

IF MATERIA >>>>>>>> Super Good Advice 2.0
You can totally be of opinion that this is not the case, but then you're just objectively wrong.

100% Agree
While it is pretty funny to just spray bullets down an empty hallway and have all of the missed shots continually dumped back into your magazine, I much prefer being rewarded for landing critical hits by getting more ammo to land more crits.

Keep Surplus, dump everything else.

Which Snipers Should I Drop?(Text Wall)
Though Ex Mach was the highest impact class.
Iron Banner - Keep it? Shard it?
Can I play too? I'm really not good at this. Anyone that can help?
I need to clear my Post Master before these Iron Banner items get pushed out. I've been careful and lucky to have not pushed any out already (I also haven't played much at all since hitting 400 during the Banner - took forever to get a helmet drop exotic)
One of these Clever Dragon's is the vendor purchase, I can't recall which as it was infused up and added to on hand inventory
Clever Dragon
1. Perfect Balance/Braced Frame Snapshot/Casket Mag Counterbalance/Life Support
2. Send It/Oiled Frame Armor Piercing/High Caliber Glass Half Full/Life Support
3. Smallbore/Oiled Frame Snapshot/High Caliber Rangefinder/Outlaw
4. Perfect Balance/Hand Laid Stock Snapshot/Casket Mag Hidden Hand/Outlaw
5. Perfect Balance/Braced Frame Quickdraw/High Caliber Glass Half Full/Unflinching
I tend to prefer stability perks ^, but have recently noticed, with pulse rifles especially RoF is very important to get bullets there first and fast. Also range can be helpful to take someone out before they can get close enough to tag you back (I get outranged with accuracy all the time and it is frustrating as there is not a great way to overcome that accurately)
The Silvered Dread
1. ARC - Smallbore/Braced Frame Speed Reload/Field Scout Counterbalance/Grenadier
2. ARC - Smallbore/Injection Mold Armor Piercing/Snapshot Rangefinder/Army of One
3. FIRE - Smallbore/Reinforced Armor Piercing/Extended Mag Spray and Play/Life Support
Blinding Blaze Shotgun any good? Worth Keeping?

Iron Banner - Keep it? Shard it?

The one with Counterbalance was the vendor roll. I'm totally addicted to that perk now, but if you can live without it, #5 with Perfect-Balance/High-cal/unflinching is close to perfect.
Blinding Blaze Shotgun any good? Worth Keeping?
If it has full-auto and decent stability perks, sure.

Iron Banner - Keep it? Shard it?
Clever Dragon
1. Perfect Balance/Braced Frame Snapshot/Casket Mag Counterbalance/Life Support
Vendor Roll is solid but not perfect
3. Smallbore/Oiled Frame Snapshot/High Caliber Rangefinder/Outlaw
I have this exact roll that I like for longer range maps. I use smallbore/HC/Rangefinder
4. Perfect Balance/Hand Laid Stock Snapshot/Casket Mag Hidden Hand/Outlaw
I never got one with hidden hand but it may be worth a try? if it had HC it would be a god roll
5. Perfect Balance/Braced Frame Quickdraw/High Caliber Glass Half Full/Unflinching
About as close to perfect as you can get. BF/HC/GHF is a great combo since BF reduced mag size. I'd also try PB/HC/GHF
The Silvered Dread
1. ARC - Smallbore/Braced Frame Speed Reload/Field Scout Counterbalance/Grenadier

You are correct. I placed it in the wrong group.
