Is this how Akka can be still alive even though Oryx killed it?

Akka is still alive? Did I miss something?

No. I did. I should have been more clear there... :(

We find out that Akka is still alive until much later when Oryx begins to build his Dreadnaught. Akka's continued life may be similar or the same as Sathona's dead worm familiar back on Fundament. Unmoving but still able to whisper.

Good catch on the potential confusion there. I'll try to remember to be more clear when I pull from ahead in the timeline like that!
