The trials cosmetic drop rate buff is real (Destiny)

I played 3 full cards over the weekend. The start of the weekend I had the following:
Have:
- Most non scarab emblems
- The sparrow
Missing:
- Scarab emblems
- Year 1 exotic emblem
- year 2 cat emblem
- All shaders
- All ships
In the course of 3 cards I managed to get all 3 y1-y2 shaders and one ship.
I still have a few things to get, but I was shocked at how often items were dropping.
Is this a thing? Did Bungie announce it?

Increased the drop rate for Trials of Osiris vanity items
Fixed a issue where the Trials of Osiris Shader “The Devoted” was not obtainable

FWIW, I ran two cards tonight (Thanks Beorn, Zero and MacAddict!) and finally had "The Devoted" shader drop. The trials sparrow dropped too (I forget for who) in the same match. I don't think the "improved" drop rate is actually very high, but it seems that persistence is paying off.
