PC Version has Modified Recoil (Destiny)

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/06/destiny-2s-guns-wont-recoil-on-pc-as-they-do-on-consoles/
Bungie says that the console version of recoil didn't feel right with a mouse so it's modified on PC. The reason Halo games have generally felt better than many other FPS games on console was because Bungie spent the time to make sure the controls felt right there. It seems like other games often just stuck with default control schemes instead of spending the extra effort to make their controls right.

I imagine they're taking quite a bit of time to get it "right" on all platforms, but at face value the change sounds weird.
Also, what happens if I want to play on a PC with my Xbox controller? Hope it changes like the article suggested.

Yeah a few interviews I've seen they say they are trying to match controller play on PC to how it feels on the consoles. They even said in one of them that they didn't feel like the advantage auto-aim gives you on a controller out weighs the advantage of a mouse, so I'm hoping it feels exactly the same!

Agreed

I hope that on PC if you use a controller/stick instead of a mouse changes the recoil to be similar to how it works on console. It's not really about platform, it's about making controls feel right for the control method being used.

It was talked about in the PCGamer interview with Luke. And it's not just recoil, but aiming and bullet accuracy is customized as well (thanks to working with Vicarius Visions).

Framerate of an old ported game vs the feel of recoil of a completely different modern game. I can't imagine how these two situations have much of anything at all to do with each other.
Interestingly, that very same article you linked to (bravo for actually linking for once, by the way!) also says:
Naughty Dog was the original developer of the hit series and the studio is very impressed with Vicarious Visions’ work on the upcoming Crash Bandicoot game. According to game producer Kara Massie, the development team on the game received overwhelmingly positive review from Naughty Dog. According to Massie, the studio is very impressed and touched with the game.
Specifically the VV lead said:
Personally, our dev team didn’t check in with them or anything. But through Sony, Naughty Dog has seen and played the games at a few different stages. And we’ve had feedback from them, and overwhelming it’s been positive. They’re very, very impressed, and quite touched, that we’re doing right by their original games.
So it lives up to Naughty Dog's standards, but not Cody Miller's. Imagine that.

Oh, knock it off. The game never ran at 60fps to begin with and 60fps is by no means a "proper framerate." If they promised 60fps and then pulled back from that you might have a point. Right now, as far as I can tell, you're just being your "I know better than everyone about everything" typical self.
So again: Knock. It. Off.

Neither did Uncharted or Last of Us, and it's impossible to go back to 30 after feeling how much better both play.

For 5-10 minutes the first time you switch back, yes. The extent to which transitioning back to low FPS after playing a game at high FPS temporarily hurts is not very relevant to a context where that won't happen anyway. Judging the worthwhileness of framerate targets needs to be made with how people will experience something in mind; TLoU at 30fps still feels fine when you're acclimated to TLoU at 30fps.

And it's also preference. When I played Rise of the Tomb Raider, the 60fps bothered me, so I dropped it to 30fps, and enjoyed the game.
First time I played The Last of Us remastered, I dropped it to 30 as well, because I find it more cinematic and immersive (like experiencing a movie).
After my first playthrough, I bumped the framerate up to 60 to record it, and basically just got used to it, but if a game gives me a choice, I'm dropping it down to 30.

I don't know. For me, in the PS4 version of Dishonored was immediately apparent, and it immediately felt wrong at 30fps. So much so, it was actually unpleasant to play and contributed to me wanting to give up early.
If your game requires precise control (Action, FPS, RTS, Platformer, etc) then it should be 60fps. As much as I praise Vanquish, 30fps was a mistake.

I wasn't saying that all games are fine at 30fps. Just that the feeling of acclimating between like-for-like things at two different framerates isn't a useful gauge here; it's not like people playing the remake of Crash Bandicoot are going to be intermittently playing Crash Bandicoot at 60fps.

The accepted minimum seems to be 90fps. Both eyes updated at 90hz. From my own experience, the current 1080 x 1200 per eye is pretty horrendous. Carmack has said minimum 8k per eye to eliminate seeing pixels.
Math here.

In terms of visual quality yes, but here are inherent problems that are impossible to overcome without fundamentally new tech. Not saying it's worthless, as I'd spring in a second for Gran Turismo VR, but it's only good in very specific circumstances.

Assuming you can acclimate to a race game. Out of all VR I've played driving a car has made me the most motion sick. Eve: Valkyrie doesn't do it to me (unless I get crazy w/ my maneuvers), but put me behind a wheel & It's almost instant.

Yeah, Cody has some of the weirdest standards.
Speaking of which, Yahtzee reviewed Vanquish a couple of days ago, and... Well, he didn't like much of anything about it, especially not the crappy one-note aesthetics and incredibly boring and repetitive gameplay.
And the best part is that a massive bug punishes those who wish to play it above 30fps.
