I like it! (Destiny)
Just finished playing the strike with Kermit and Canecutter (and Ottermack in the party). I forgot to bring my mic back home from my parent's place, so I just listened while they discussed the game. Mostly stuff that's been said here already, and I won't be saying anything new, but here it is:
All I can say is that I like it. It seems like they're delivering the things I care about, mainly interesting encounters for PvE with story reasons for doing things. It's obviously too early to tell how those things will truly pan out, but the stuff we've seen so far is great. I loved the story mission, and the strike really is great. I love the art style. Kermit said they managed to make it look completely different while still managing to look like the same game, and I think he's right. During the story mission I was struck by the lighting in particular--it just looks great.
I understand everyone's concerns about perks and player movement and loadouts and all the technical stuff, but I've ignored about 98% of that stuff anyway. I never paid much attention to my weapon or armor rolls, much less tell you which ones are good or bad. I understand those who do and can, but that's never been me. I just like shooting aliens in their dumb faces, and Destiny 2 feels amazing to play, and that's good enough for me. I'll never dive into the technical side, the less I have to think about those things the better (which is why I like the new subclass trees!).
Rolling auto rifle and scout rifle at the same time makes me really, really happy.
I'm totally sold (as if I wasn't already), and I'm eagerly anticipating September. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll get through Breath of the Wild by then.
P.S. The cursor in the menu feels weird. There's my "gripe."
