I never played the first one due to my lack of WiiU. It looks interesting and fun, but I'm not sure I can stomach ponying up $60 for it. I missed the Splatfests, so I didn't get the opportunity to give it a shot, unfortunately.

Can't speak to its longevity, but it's really fun. Matches are frantic and three minutes long. Seems like a game that I can just jump in and grab a few matches at the end of the evening.
