just sell the thing, there's less than month in this game. This is so stupid.

Destiny 1 is ending? As far as I know they have not announced a definitive, shut down the servers, end date as of yet. I also don't think that they have announced an end to the Treasure of Ages loot boxes. I'm guessing these boxes will just keep dropping in 3's until they actually announce an end date?

First off. It's dumb that you can't just use silver/silver dust to buy any and all ornaments that you want. I would have gladly done this early on in the game for cosmetic only items. Unfortunately, I have come to accept that Bungie just wants to rely on RNG for everything in this game.

With that said, there is a strategy involved in getting what you want to drop from those treasure packages. use your any silver dust you get to buy items you are missing from the eververse kiosk. Those sparrows, emotes, ornaments, etc... all take up a chance in the loot pool for the treasure packages. By eliminating them from the loot pool you greatly increase the odds of getting something you want.

For example. I had pretty much everything available from eververse going into RoI with the exception of the emotes. I purchased a few here and there, but didn't spend a ton of money on them. In order to get the legendary emotes from the free packages I used my silver dust to purchase the blue level emotes which eliminated them from the loot pool. Once those were all gone, every emote I had drop was a legendary version.

You have to go back a long ways in THAB but they stated they were greatly favoring items that you did not have. using that theory, you start eliminating items from the loot pool and you'll be more likely to get what you want.

You iterated this ^ more clearly than I could have.
I have not spent a red cent on Silver or any other in game item/game currency. I was opposed to even using their 'drug pusher-like' free hit of Silver they gave us and thought I would never use it. I decided to use it up to limit down the loot pool for Age of Triumph - Treasure of Ages boxes. I bought up cheaper sparrow horns and sparrows with all accumulated silver and Silver Dust from prior events (I think Radiant Treasure/Dawning had the chance to gave Dust? Or provided it when you shard duplicate items?).

I take the strategy to the limit very unscientifically and superstitiously. I always open the boxes on the same 1 character.
Prior to opening Treasure of Ages boxes I fill all but 1 of my armor slots with any special event armors I have.

• I actively equip any of the pieces of Triumph armor. Completed a full set a while back, but still equip them for each box opening.
  
• I had a partial set of Crystalline(Lantern/Snow Angel) armor from The Dawning event, which has since been completed.
  
• I have various pieces of left over or dropped Dying Star(Exultation/Snowglare) armors and put them into my inventory slots
  
• I have various pieces of left over or dropped Rimed(Lamentation/Scarlight) armors and put them into my inventory slots
  
• (I vaulted a full Desolate/Spektar armor set until the day Age of Triumph started, and sharded them after opening my first round of AoT boxes.)

I still have received some duplicates, but I believe that this has limited the amount of duplicates I have received and "pushed" smart-loot to drop me other items instead.
I have since sharded some of these older armors for vault space but still have a few pieces left over. The addition of raid armors and ornaments has made keeping full sets in the vault very difficult. An armor kiosk, even if just for leveled event armor/raid sets would really be efficient.

I had pretty much nothing available from Eververse going into RoI especially emotes, and I was quite content with it. I have almost completed the Sparrows/Horns kiosk. I don't care for emotes and have approximately 1/4 to 1/2 completed the emote kiosk? Also received a number of Halloween masks plus the Deviled and Ghost Ghosts which many silly people were shelling out for and not getting during the Halloween events.
I'm extremely appreciative of Bungie releasing all these many items to us FOR FREE. (Pretty Frickin' Generous indeed)

I have a different problem, Ornaments with no weapons to apply them to.

• I have Nanohance Ornament for Ice Breaker (from one of my first Treasure of Ages boxes opened) And I do not own Y3 Ice Breaker and probably never will. In fact just received Y1/Y2 Ice Breaker here during Y3.
  
• I have Chronoshot Ornament for Mythoclast and I do not, nor ever will, own any Mythoclast ever.
  
• I have Perfected Predator Ornament for Lord of Wolves and I do not own a Y3 Lord of Wolves. Received a legacy Lord of Wolves (which has never been used) a whileback in Y3.
  
• I have Cold Between Stars Ornament for Black Spindle. I do not have a Black Spindle as I have never had any two people try to help to seriously make a run for it. (I must have missed the one week window when everyone went crazy for it)
  
• Sorry to be a jerk, But I have an Undiscovered Country Ornament. I have not applied it as I refuse to use No Land Beyond. I also don't want the gun taking up a vault slot so I'm content to leave it in the weapon kiosk. IF I could give you this Ornament, I would gladly.

• I'm afraid, despite playing how many hours?, I have not nor ever will get the Y1 destination treasure chest ship "Laughing Behind Your Back". Laughing behind my back indeed.
  
• "Chasing Infinity" Queen's Wrath ship. Chasing Infinity, describes Destiny+RNG perfectly. Chasing infinity indeed.
  (plus missing various other Queen's Wrath, House of Judgement, Skolas - ships, sparrows, emblems)
  
• Black Spindle
  
• SRL Year 1 Book. Was not willing to buy it at the time (still not).
  Not available now and still locked behind a paywall, why?
  
• Crimson Doubles Grimoire card (no points) - missed the entire limited time event run
  
• "No Puppet, I" emblem from Strikes
  
• Refer-a-Friend junk
