Post-Return Thoughts (Destiny)
First off, I missed everybody here. It's just nice to be back.
Destiny still seems like the same game, with some nice new touches- which is a good thing, I like and always have liked it. Most of the changes seem good ones, at least from my perspective, slipping in right at the tail end of the game, anyways.
I don't like weapon damage rating affecting Light level- but the main drawback of that is mitigated by remembering I could just infuse my hugh Light level sidearm into a sniper rifle. Silver is bleh but easily ignored.
Leveling up has been easier- and progressing with weapons I like has been, too. I got a good Rare Sahara almost immediately, and then a Zhalo Supercell out of a Rare engram also right out of the gate.
Then I got the Exotic Khvostov. And oh my god, this gun. I love it so much. I was a little dubious looking at the stats, and the lack of a proper Exotic perk, but it just feels so right. And one of the ways you can spec it- 78 bullets! 78! Even when pushing Range for Crucible instead I have 66 bullets. It takes a while to reload, and it's not as fast shooting as a Sahara, but- especially after magazine sizes were nerfed and my Doctor Nope went from 72 to 63- it excels in the same situations Saharas used to.
So many firefights won because I still had bullets. I went on a tear in the Crucible (by my standards anyways) because I could get consecutive kills, a lot more easily than usual. Then I got matched twice into a team that utterly destroyed mine, mainly via coordination, ruthless efficiency, and controlling range. They won a game, by a ludicrous margin, the teams got broken up, and then I matched back into those same six people and experienced my first mercy rule loss. But, winning isn't everything.
Warlock is still my favorite class, (and only bothering to level one up has been refreshing) while Sunsinger is still the best subclass for PVP. For me, anyways. The Arc one is fun, though, I really like Feedback.
I'm at 341 Light, so far, and still have some story stuff to go through. I'm not too worried about experiencing all the content and definitely not about hitting the cap, but doing the base versions of the new two Raids would be cool. I'll probably set up a Fireteam Builder for those when I get my next week's schedule, if anybody would be interested in running through them with me.
All in all, I'm looking forward to Destiny 2. I didn't actually get to play the Beta (if you saw me on during it that would have been my brother) but what I have seen looks promising. And after a big gap like this, it will be nice to have a clean break, really.
