Good News on Leveling for Destiny 2 (Destiny)
Good news from Mark Noseworthy:
PSA: In D2 it's no longer advantageous to equip your most powerful gear when decrypting Engrams. We check for your best possible loadout now

Best news yet.

You ain't kidding. This will equate to a significant chunk of actual extra playtime for me, and I'm sure many others.

I know, right? Maxing light level was the my most-used feature of all the gear managers, as I'm sure it was for many others. This is a MAJOR quality of life improvement.

A very nice quality of life improvement there

Neat! ...but...
- Does this mean the character as a whole, or on the characters on person inventory?
- If you get something for another class, does it level up per-THAT class inventory, or your own (the one you are playing in the moment)?
- Could this system give me a hint what my best possible load out would be? Maybe?
THANK YOU PROGRESSION & ECONOMY TEAM!
For your next task, Can we have the ability to shard things from the postmaster - WHILE IN THE POSTMASTER SCREEN. That would be nice, thanks.

my guesses

Destiny Item Manager and Tower Ghost offer this using several parameters.

Neat! ...but...
Pretty sure it'll work off available account and what that character can equip. So it won't calculate in armor for another class or weapons that you are under level for.
Didn't they have a thing previously where they scanned character potential power?

I don't remember anything like that built into the game. Some 3rd-party item managers did.

I posted the same earlier but it got spam-blocked.

Bungie's gear manager had a maximize light feature.
This is fantastic news
