You can't replay story missions? (Destiny)

by General Vagueness @, The Vault of Sass, Thursday, September 07, 2017, 15:20 (2717 days ago)

I accidentally brought up the director in a cutscene-- a very important one. When I backed out I accidentally started to skip the cutscene. I turned the power off immediately to try to not have it save my progress but it didn't work. I thought maybe I could just play it again, but I looked it up and apparently you can't play any story missions again, at all, until you've finished the whole thing, and then they only come up randomly a few at a time.
Please tell me the sites I found are wrong on this, because this is pure bullshit. Why the fuck should I not be able to play a level again?

You can, after you have beaten the story, but...

I already read *how* it happens, that doesn't matter.
It's really fucking random? WHY? Why would you lock people out of the story at all?

I'm trying to find a way to restart the mission, which was doable in Destiny 1, and it turns out you can't do that either. I also really despise how I have no control over when a cutscene starts in this game. It'll just go as soon as you kill whatever needed to be killed and are in the same fucking area code as the end of the zone, that was why the director was up, I brought up the Ghost because it was talking.

I just want to fucking see it, on my game, on my Xbox, where my Hunter gets their personal powers back. They hyped up this moment for the entire run-up to this game only to fucking tell me since I accidentally skipped it I can never ever see it.

That mission's probably not even in the ones you can get randomly either, because you have no powers and shitty weaponry in it, so it's too different to be in the pool of missions, just like they probably won't let you play Homecoming ever again unless you delete a character, just like the first mission in Destiny 1. This is BS, they sell me on the story, and then because I pressed B twice quickly when backing out of something, they lock me out of said story.

Well, I just watched it on YouTube, and it wasn't long, there wasn't a lot of dialogue, but it would have been very satisfying to see myself, and it had a line (a callback line even) that I'd already heard about but really wanted to see myself. Great job.

OK I'm calming down now. If anyone with power wants to do me a favor (for some reason) they can reset my progress or make sure the cutscene library (would be a nice in-game feature but I mean the one on here) uses a Hunter for that cutscene.

It's pretty early on in the game... you could always re-play with a new hunter. Also, you will unlock other subclasses in the future... it's very similar.

You still only get three character slots and mine are full, I don't want to delete any. Actually I would have shuffled them around but they said there would be some feature where if you hover on a character it shows the date they were created, or it would show some other way, did they get rid of that?
Anyway a lot of it is symbolic, like I said I wanted it for my main character specifically. Thanks though.

Sorry buddy. Hopefully Bungie adds a cutscene theater mode to the game where you can watch all of your guys in the scenes again.
