An Apology (Destiny)
So I've been fiddling around with the shaders...and it's been fun. And since I've done plenty of moaning and groaning about shaders on a public forum and enjoying them in my own game, I feel it's only fair to return to said public forum and apologize to you all and to Bungie.
Not only have I found shaders that are orange black and white but I've not even used them. With the addition of shader mods to weapons, sparrows and ships, it's been fun swapping out shaders on them. And since they are consumable, it's more fun choosing which ones to use.
They were right.
I was wrong.
I'm sorry.
This game is a blast.

An Apology
I'm with you.
It's weird, but shaders being consumable makes them feel more disposable to me (in a good way!). I burn through them whenever I feel like changing something up. In Destiny, I found the two or three shaders I liked and stuck with them.
So far in Destiny 2, I've been using all most all of them on some piece of gear or another, with a decent amount of changing them out.
My Warlock crown looks amazing in Tarnished Copper!

I don't know. I was defending it the other day (mostly as far as no purchase being necessary, I'm not sure where that idea came from), but I really think it's not a very good system. I'd rather they have us chase mods or something. Honestly I'd also prefer the previous game's chasing of actually better gear, because I never cared about being max light until it came time to raid or do Iron Banner.
Really though, it's moot because I have 4 shaders or so and not one of them looks good on armor. I like some of them applied to guns, but nothing seems to improve the look of the armor. It looks kind of weird default and still looks weird no matter what you do to it. I think it might be the specular or bumpmapping or something along those lines, not the actual visuals. Stuff doesn't feel like it has the right texture. It's hard to explain.
