*SP* Raid Encounter Order (Destiny)
by unoudid , Somewhere over the rainbow, Tuesday, September 19, 2017, 07:10 (2705 days ago)
Apparently, the raid changes order of the encounters every reset.
This week is:
- Pleasure Gardens
- Gauntlet
- Bathers
Calus is always at the end.

Thats somewhat fun, but means you need to know what to do. and really screws up people who have trouble at a single point.

Yeah, but that's true of whenever you play. Unless you were only planning on playing the first half of the raid.

Well, if you could get part 1 down every time, you then atlesat get SOME rewards. Here if you suck at Pleasure Gardens, which seems to be the hardest for people, then you get nothing.
I certainly like it, but people who don't play often will be screwed some weeks. Especially since this raid really requires good team work.

Yeah, but it keeps in line with other hard ecounters like the nightfall. There are some brutal versions out there. But I understand what you are saying. On the plus side, if someone is having a hard time with the Pleasure Gardens, at least it will put it front and center for them to get better at it! :D
And who wouldn't want to enjoy the Pleasure Gardens first? That's like Dessert before dinner!

During our raid, Mac was wondering if we could choose the order of the encounters. This puts us somewhere in the middle, which I think may keep things a little interesting. :)

Agreed. Still, I think it'd be fun to choose, but this keeps things fresh too!
The problem with being able to choose the encounter sequence is that people will hone in on the easier ones and avoid the ones that are more difficult, thus making the easier ones easier and the harder ones harder. The benefit of having the encounters rotate is that over time, you get an even distribution of practice, so you'll end up being able to master all of the encounters.
Kind of off-topic, but I still wonder about those mostly-empty chests after each of the Standards encounters… why even bother?
Kind of off-topic, but I still wonder about those mostly-empty chests after each of the Standards encounters… why even bother?
Not off-topic at all I bet. I assume that because it's unclear which event will be "first", all these chests are chained together. So whichever one you open first gives you rewards, the rest just extra glimmer. Someone braver than me can test out skipping the first one and seeing what happens at the second one. ;)
Now, it does seem like lazy programming, but I assume they have their reasons. Probably due to schedule. They should add some blue engrams or an extra shader or something to those to make it feel a little less of a letdown though, IMO.

On the same topic of chests that have nothing. What's the deal with the chest after completing the standard event between the main events? The door opens behind and there is a big ol' chest with nothing in it. At least I've never gotten anything from any of them.

That's what he's talking about. The first time you clear that encounter to move on, it's like every other chest. It'll give you tokens, legendaries, exotics, or raid gear and shaders. Subsequent clearings of the room will open a chest that gives you glimmer. You only get rewards for doing that room once, even though you'll do it three more times.

Yes you have. Those 5 "Calus's Selected" shaders and the first few Benedict tokens you got were from that first chest on our first night.

Right. I completely forgot about those two things because at the time they were useless to me :P
One could argue that the shader could be used, but I would pay money to get it out of my inventory.

I just don't understand why people like white shaders. I use shaders to add color, not get rid of it!

And, depending on the armor piece, there might not be any purple. (For instance, the three armor pieces I shaded are just black/matte-gray/gold/white).

lol. Yeah, I forgot the purple.

Uhh. Just want to jump in here and throw in that White LIGHT color models are what involves all the colors (Such as RGB). Ink based gamuts are a subtractive color model and are based on black. So in this fashionable clothing case black would technically be in fact be all the colors. That's right friends! Goths are actually repressed unicorns! HOORAY! ;D

And INSANE's description of additive (light emission) and subtractive (inks) color isn't quite right. But I'll let it slide because it's late.

Of course! There are a number of specialized techniques to make this effect. Printing is just another art with its own set of tools. There are all sorts of different papers, inks with varying thicknesses and finishes, foils - which we can also use for effect in lieu of ink and all around tools and methods such as engraving & thermography to achieve not only this but a number of effects. I tell ya, it's a rabbit hole. Once you get ink in your blood, it does not come out. ^_^

Paying glimmer is literally how you get them out of your inventory. I suppose you could also delete them from the inventory shaders tab, but WHY? They're the best looking shaders in the game.

...and fixes some of the problems with raids in general. It's not quite as good as picking which order you do things in (which I've been hoping for since before king's fall), but it's a huge step for the semi-casual raider.
So last week I and a group of mostly local people did the raid blind and in about 2 hours beat the baths and then got to the pleasure gardens where we played with that encounter for 20 minutes or so.
If we had wanted to remain blind, or even only had a couple hours to play each week together, we could progress through the raid as a group by learning something new each week until we had the raid down. In some ways this would take longer, but it definitely is going to be more fun.
Assuming this is part of the intention, My gut says the order of the 4 encounters will be the same, but rotate "down" each week. So the baths was first last week, but sort of wrapped to the end and everything else I expect moved up a slot.
(I don't know the order from last week, so I could be wrong, it could be completely random)
Last week was Baths / gardens / gauntlet
