PS4 Leviathan Raid Continuation Planning/Discussion *SP* (Destiny)
First off, all my saltyness aside, we had a really good run last week. I know I was saying lots of things (hopefully no one takes me serious), but thats just me. You guys did great, and I don't want anyone thinking that I legitimately have negative feelings towards them (LOOKING AT YOU CODY =]). If you weren't in the raid, I was NOT just yelling at people. Sammy even enjoyed the commentary. I feel like we should be able to get to Calus within a couple hours based on how consistent we eventually got with every part of the raid. That being said, I'm sure you guys found a few tips-n-tricks about each section that helped you that you may not have shared or thought much of. I will post mine below and feel free to comment or add your own, it will be much appreciated. I will go in the order that the events will be in this week.
Pleasure Gardens
This was probably the easiest encounter IMO. It is almost exclusively mechanic based. The DPS phase we learned can be easily done with enough stacks. The order/location the flowers spawn in has a lot to do with how many phases/tries it may take.
- Swords are REALLY good against the dogs. I had issues tracking my target when the DPS phase started. Especially if someones super was knocking them around. You do not have to aim with the sword, and they have lots of ammo compared to other Power Weapons.
- The dogs go to a respective flower during the DPS phase. I noticed that I got more DPS ( and less headache) from going to a flower and waiting on the dog rather than trying to find him/waste ammo shooting him along the way. They take no time to get there, in fact they were usually there waiting, so theres not a real loss in DPS. A good number mechanic like L1,L2,L3/R1,R2,R3 may be the way to go here for planning and callouts.
- The glowing flowers are on a timer, so we have to make clear callouts and move quickly. We should try hard to get the timing and execution down now, as the Prestige/hard mode will definitely throw something else our way.
Guantlet
This was probably the most confusing yet not too difficult of the events as it has alot going on. Our callouts are key, and knowing that you are almost always shooting at one of the gates is also key. I won't go over the event, as we have it down well enough now that we know the key to the ending.
- Super the adds as often as possible, but not too late as you wont be able to shoot the gates. I had the Raiden Flux hunter chest on and was not able to get rid of it fast enough to shoot the gate one time.
- Burning the Shielded centurions in groups of 3 worked alot better IMO. Focus Firing means that we don't have to worry about Ammo during gate Phase (the Psions drop ammo too) and no one dying.
- Korny's protip for jumping/Psions: Jump past the Psion into the wall where we shoot the Gate lights, then turn around and wait for the Psion. This way you are staring right at your platform after you melee your Psion and can jump up quicker. I never had an issue making it back to my platform in time(hunter life), but I started doing this anyway and found I was getting back on the platform much faster. This allowed me to help shoot gates in the event someone wasn't back on their platform. This definitely happened on more than one occasion, so why not do it?
Pleasure Bathers.. I mean Bathers
Probably the more challenging of the events before Calus. Alot more going on, and little room for error. While there is a mechanic here, and a small DPS phase, the real issue I was having was dying from the buff/adds.
- Cody, Korny, and I were helping tag team the Centurions that climb from the chain, and this is invaluable. For some reason I had Power Ammo issues here, and the only enemies to drop it were the centurions. If I didn't have help or Power ammo to take them down, they hurt me bad(hunter life). When the person is coming to your plate, make sure you stay to help knock out that guy (buff permitting)
- Adds stack up really fast here, especially if you have a lengthy centurion fight. Having a weapon with some range(scout, pulse, etc) meant I could get alot of the adds while they were just entering the area. Alot of these were adds that were heading to the OTHER side, but I was still able to get them from the plate with 1-3 MIDA shots. Once you start fighting the centurion, Adds chipping away at your health is bad juju so they need to go fast.
- IIRC, Your buff only losses stacks when you are in the electric water, so while in transition to the plate, stay airborne. I also noticed a few times that my buff refreshed when the chains locked before DPS phase. So I would go to the middle with near full buff. Did anyone else see this? It wasn't every time, so I am unsure how/why.
Calus
We didn't beat him but we definitely almost did and have it figured out. Slow and Steady is the name of the game.
- Use your Super on adds if its up, unless you're a tethering Hunter. Ammo issues were hitting us all, and are even more so an issue if you are on the team that stays in the other dimension. DPS supers are not too good against Calus from what I have watched. Golden gun may work, but a tether would be a bigger boost in DPS. Using my Arcstrider on the adds helped alot. I generated orbs, saved ammo, and I can nearly clear out the entire room with one super thanks to the Raiden Flux chest. This saved ammo for everyone, and ORBS!
- In the other Dimension, Auto Rifles are REALLY good for the skulls. Coldheart works as well too, and its better to get more stacks than to save the ammo for DPS phase. HOWEVER, My scout rifles were helping get those pesky Psions that knock you up. I was able to hit every Psion in each section without reloading. Auto Rifles do not have that luxury. I was able to one shot the Skulls with my 288 Call to Serve Scout Rifle.
- The Purple Psion knock up ability lingers for a bit, but can be dodged. This MOFOs sometimes shoot before the even spawn. Once you see them launching it, immediately stafe left or right. But don't move back, as it lingers. Alternatively, if you know you are going to get knocked up, jump before you do, you'll land and be able to catch the next little wall.
- During DPS phase, As SOON as his hand started moving, I WALKED off the edge of the platform. Jumping seemed to keep me in damage range as if the blast shoots up a bit. Knowing which edge I was closest too and walking off it kept me alive more than jumping.
That's really all I have guys. We have this down, just thought I would share what I found worked best for me. Feel free to critique or add your own thoughts.
Happy Hunting!

I didn't even think that until you said this… :-p

I'm sure everyone has seen top strats, and while I'm eager to try and one phase everything, I'd rather see us play it safer and just get through everything until we defeat Calus.
Also just throwing out that I've really enjoyed the last week. I think we've meshed prettt well as a group without anyone getting really frustrated. I was a little disappointed in having to call it so early on monday, especially when it felt like we were within a few runs of getting it done. We won't spend so much time getting there this week, so I don't think we'll have too many issues.

Me too. At the event I had to go to, I literally got the ending to Last Jedi spoiled for me. I am legit upset about that.

You can cancel your super by changing subclass. For this particular fight, I strongly suggest nightstalker anyway. Especially if you have the boots that recharge your super as more enemies walk into your tether.

I did not even think about that. Good tip, NOTED!

I totally agree. I wasn't trying to PRO status the raid, just wanted to share what helped me during the various parts.

Is it a good ending at least?

Notice.
Going to be a bit late. I have to help with a car we're selling. Should hopefully be on time, but may be 15-20 minutes late.
