if you miss the Chaperone, check out Suros Shotguns (Destiny)
Greetings Guardians!
If you're like me, then you miss the high velocity, high caliber killing machine that was... The Chaperone! Don't deny it. Even though you knew it wasn't "optimal" (whatever that means), you relished in the glory of one shot head-shotting an entire team from close range and without reloading. And then Destiny 2 happened. Where was your Chaperone? What had become of your rolling ball of shotgun barrels playstyle? Do you feel like a shadow realm of your former self?
Well buck up, Guardian! Come back from your throne world and check out SUROS Shotguns! They're big, they're mean, and they're single slug killing machines! Good Bone Structure features a Precision Frame (Fires a single-slug round. This weapon's recoil pattern is more predictably vertical), Rifled Barrel (increases range, greatly decreases handling speed), High Caliber Rounds (Shots from this weapon knock the target back further, slightly increases range), and Outlaw (Precision kills greatly decrease reload time)!
***Full disclosure: I haven't actually used the gun yet, so it may very well suck, but once I had the idea for this post I just had to write it.

If you miss good shotguns, use anything else.
Just being a dick. I'm sure the other shotguns are also bad.

The current state of shotguns is so disappointing. I run Hawthorne's Field-Forged Shotgun pretty consistently for PvE. But reqlly for the most part swords do the same things but more efficiently. Shotguns need more range before their drop off to make them PvE viable. I have no comment on PvP because I never touch power ammo unless it is as a denial.

In pvp you generally want the grenade launcher "Play of the Game," a rocket launcher, or a sniper. Swords are okay but you have to get close. Shotguns are okay but you have to get close. Fusions are okay but shoot slowly (linear fusion rifle hype though). There will always be someone who is a pure master with one of the lesser used guns, but in general the above options will be most effective. I, for example, us play of the game. I used to use rockets (2 kills every time), but with play of the game I have a chance for as many as 4 kills, and still always get at least 2.
