Destiny 2's inventory is infuriating! (Destiny)
by cheapLEY , Wednesday, December 13, 2017, 18:51 (2619 days ago)
So, I had a stack of 2 "Gift of Vanguard Tokens." When you dismantle them, you get 5 Vanguard Tokens.
In any case, I dismantled one of them, which added 5 Vanguard Tokens to my inventory. I didn't have any of these in my inventory at the time, so it added them to the front of the list, moving everything to the right one. Well, I was already holding square to dismantle the next set of Gift of Vanguard Tokens, only it had moved right one space. So I ended up dismantling the 9 Masterwork Cores I spent 600 Legendary Shards to get last night.
Seriously, sometimes, fuck this stupid game.

Not to be a dick, but...
it's been like that since D1 launch. That sucks, but you've just gotta be more observant. I admit, the thing is kinda stupid like that, but look at it from the other side--if Oryx is fisting and you realize in a panic your Heavy synths are all on another character, once you get DIM to finally load and figure out how to cooperate, where do you think you'd want to see those synths when they eventually (don't) transfer?
First in line.
Sorry to hear it, but just go careful next time.

Bah! That's terrible. Anything that causes things you might actively be interacting with to move is bad UI. It should go to the back of the line!

Completely agree, it's terrible design the way things like that currently work

No, it sucks and is stupid and is terrible design. I swear I may even have been in a game with Candland and MENTIONED how terrible this was, that dismantling objects caused other objects to move which the game SHOULD NOT DO and it's infuriating that the system still works that way.

No. There is no excuse for this crap. Don't make one. This is not a gameplay issue. It isn't part of the game to have to anticipate that while you're holding down a button waiting forever for the stack of things to dismantle, it's going to suck in the next item from a nearby stack. No. Just no.
You're obviously correct. This is genuinely stupid. It shouldn't do that. It should be redesigned in a patch post haste.
That said, I learned a long time ago, and so should CheapLEY, that Destiny's menu systems were a bit weird when deleting stuff. I, now almost by reflex, give a pause and pay attention when I am deleting and buying stacks of crap. I lift my finger and don't press it down again until I am sure.
I've accidentally deleted stuff when not paying attention, and it's usually worth a laugh from whoever I'm playing with. Obviously, it's not intuitive design, but also we should have learned to modify our behavior by now. That's why it's okay to make fun of someone who does it. :D
For example, I think you once deleted the wrong gun while deleting something and DIM changed it for you. That was not your fault, but still hilarious. Now we know, don't delete shit while DIMing!
Wait, what?

Okay, this is shitty, and I'm sorry for your loss, but... can you tell me how to buy Masterworks Cores? I thought I had to get lucky with drops!

You do have to get lucky with drops, but you can buy Legendary Engrams from the Cryptarch for 25 Legendary Shards a pop.
FWIW, I'm not really that upset about it. Shards come fast, I'm already back up to 5 Maseterwork Cores. It's just a bummer. I should have been paying more attention.

So I ended up dismantling the 9 Masterwork Cores I spent 600 Legendary Shards to get last night.
I just dropped 700+ legendary shards on engrams. I scored TWO whole masterwork weapons that dismantled for a total of 3 masterwork cores.
I've only managed to get five masterwork weapons at all so far. None have them have been worth keeping and only two have given me more than 1 core when disassembled. I'm still three cores short of being able to upgrade one of the weapons I actually like to a masterwork.

I finally spent my 1300+ weapon parts and got a whopping 5 masterworks. I don't even know how many legendaries I popped in total.

I'm sorry... HOW? I mean, I'm not living in the game, but I feel like I play a reasonable amount for someone that has to deal with Real Life™, and yet at best I'm only ever sitting on like, 30. Do you just not infuse? Do you just not talk to Xur? Do you just not spend them? Is this from playing an obscene amount? Crucible? Raid?
I am literally flabbergasted.
I read Bungie going "We've given you more to spend your shards on!" and think... Why? Neither myself nor anyone I know is swimming in them.
And then I see this.

I shard a ton of legendaries. I don't think I play that much. But when every legendary/exotic is between 1-7 shards, it adds up pretty quickly.
And I do infuse quite a bit.

That part I kinda gathered.
How in the hell are you racking up that many drops? I feel like it's been a good night if I've clocked an hour or two doing events, and then another two or so doing strikes, and walk away with maybe five or six, as opposed to the absolutely insane number of rares that drop every 30 seconds.

If you raid at all then you are pretty well set. I usually leave a raid with atleast 10 engrams on my character and a few in the postmaster

If you raid at all
Nope.
So I guess that answers that.
On Xbox I have clocked 147 hours on D2 on Xbox. I have done exactly 1 Raid. I haven’t played as much there as PC since the end of October for various reasons. I have 812 legendary shards. I am actually pretty quick to infuse things. Sometimes to my dismay. I have more issues keeping my glimmer up. In contrast I have 185 on PC, because I have spent more at Xur. I had 50 less than that two nights ago.
But I also have a lot of accrued rep tokens on PC.

124 hrs since launch, no raids, no nightfalls, no crucible. At any given time I have a minimum average of 5 shards and a maximum average of 30ish. I think one week early on I managed 60 which vanished the second Xur showed up. I don't buy much from Xur either (I've probably purchased maybe five or six things from him? And that feels generous. Most weeks I just completely ignore or forget about him.) and like you, I'm quick to infuse things. Moreso across guns than armor (my armor is pretty static, I like having options for guns). Glimmer has been an issue maybe one time? My wallet is usually overflowing with glimmer.
Unless I'm literally an outlier and spend the damn things as fast as I get them, I'm still not seeing how with what's seemingly a similar playstyle and investment period, I'm accruing so few. I mean, just about all I can ever afford to do is infuse, and infusion is pretty cheap.
I thought 20 some odd shards for an engram from the Cryptarch was stupid and ridiculous. Now it seems reasonable presented with the fact that apparently everyone but me is sitting on thousands of them.

How would you feel if I told you I've already burned at least that many pulling exotics from the vault, dismantling them for weapon parts, and then turning those parts in for mods? :p

I tend to pick a few key items (one or two per slot) to keep infusing while I'm leveling and leave most to infuse after I've hit the level cap, though that's usually more to save glimmer than shards. And I think Xur has only ever carried two, maybe three items that I didn't already have by the time he rolled around. I just never really had much reason to spend them.

I'd ask why you need so damn many pointless mods, for starters. That's part of the game I see absolutely no point or benefit to, aside from the +5 you get from legendary mods. If there's a tangible benefit from them, it's one that, shocker, like a lot of Destiny needs to be better represented in numerical statistics, or comparison bars, or something tangible, rather than vague flavor text.

"Slightly," he says, with 16 days clocked. 124 hrs for me, and that's about the average across my miniscule sampling of 10 friends.

So, in your case, I'm seeing "Time Invested + No Reason To Spend = Bank", which makes sense.

Armor mods can be used to boost your Arc/Void/Solar class abilities/melee/grenade recharge, boost your mobility/resilence/regeneration (can't remember the word for that currently.), or boost certain weapon traits (kinetic reload, energy stability, etc).
When you buy weapon mods from the gunsmith, there is a 1 in 4 chance of getting a Kinetic +5 mod, which to my knowledge, will never randomly drop in the game (apart from already mounted in a kinetic exotic weapon).
So buying from the gunsmith is useful if you're looking to create that perfect set of armor (all void mods on armor, for example) or you want to put plus 5's on all your kinetic weapons.

Those are the stat modifiers I wish were better represented. Yeah, they provide buffs, but HOW MUCH of a buff? I have a variety equipped, and can't tell a difference.
