We're All Good Friends Here...Are We? (Destiny)

Holy crap, this video had me in tears...like, for the first time ever, both happy tears and sad tears. One eye leaking tears of joy because of the relatability(I mean, it is pretty damn funny), and one eye tears of pain because of the firsthand experience.

s.

Both DBO's and LFG's have a hand in stirring this particular pot of repressed memories.

Watch this video, and then tell me how many of these types of raiders you instantly recognize.

I've re-watched this video a handful of times, and to spare feelings, I'm going to put the rest of this in spoiler tags. Don't bother getting upset because you know it's true anyway. ;-D

Blackstar is Ryan
Chappy is Geoff
I'm Jack
Lawn is Michael
Funkmon is Jeremy
And Nico definitely has to be Alfredo, bottling up all that retribution.

Except for 1:36. In that specific scenario, Alfredo is Blackstar and Ryan is almost literally a concensus of every LFG'er(and a good quarter of DBOers) we've ever met.

While I may or may not have hit the nail on the head, for better or worse we all have raid personalities. And they all come out, whether we want them to or not! Thanks to the Achievement Hunter Animated team for perfectly encapsulating and exemplifying virtually every single major one. lmao

Are you one of the people in this video? Why are you denying that you are at least one of the people in this video? Anyone else you know who fits into one of those personalities?

Let's take a little time to discuss our tempers and feelings while participating in what might possibly be the most emotionally taxing cooperative activity known to man: The Destiny Raid.

We've all got a little bit of everyone in this.

Like, how many times have I yelled for us to just get on with it, and learn by doing? Like every time! WE'LL DO IT LIVE!

Very funny though. Good raid microcosm. I love Jack making fun of Ryan for, presumably, dying.

Our Raid group/s is made up of old people who've been playing together online since 2005 in Halo 2.

Destiny Raids have been both very wearing and rewarding for our older group. We lost one friend to the front door of the Vault of Glass. That's when we broke into smaller groups and added young people for awhile.

Later in Destiny 1 and feeling more capable, we again formed Raid teams of just old people. Raids took a long time but we thrashed our way through them.

Now raiding in D2 and another few years older, we are thoroughly challenged. While some of us can hold our own in a firefight, few of us can take up the slack from someone else.

Our egos all but disappear during a Raid since each of us is overwhelmed most of the time. Sometimes we have to stop and throw encouraging words to a member whose confidence is fading.

We laugh, yell, scream, cry for attention just like any Raid team. We get cranky and impatient with members who are under performing but in the end, it's almost always because of being overwhelmed.

Future Raids may be pricing themselves out of our reach. Some of us will Raid with younger people but we will never feel quite as fulfilled as when we could do it as a uniquely older group.

I’m calling BS....

...cause no one opened a beer (or 3) during the raid.

That's before it even starts.

All I know is that it's not a lawnmower raid without a beer.

I'm positive at least half of us are also getting sloshed but Lawnmower pops a can at funny spots and right into the mic.

Can we blame him? All the crap Crota and Oryx put us through, we all need something heavier, dealing with those platforms, bridges and timers.

I remember our beer runs for ammo in game, but that's when Mower would go to the fridge and crack one open.

That was painfully unfunny. I want those 2 1/2 minutes back.

If I had to raid with someone who yells nonstop, I’d bow out in minutes.
If I had to raid with some impatient and unskilled moron who thinks it’s high-larious to ignore direction, I’d stop raiding.

These are clearly snippets from a real stream, but the people are trying way too hard to be “entertaining” for the sake of views, which just makes the whole thing obnoxious (par for the course with anything that I’ve seen Achivement Hunter-wise)...

While I may or may not have hit the nail on the head, for better or worse we all have raid personalities.

I don’t think the degradation of patience and clash of personalities is exclusive to raiding, but that is where it shines, yes. Good times, great, fun memories.
