Earth Symbols in Opening Cutscene

I decided to try my hand at getting clearer versions of the symbols/structure of the planets in the opening cutscene of D1. Here is the image of Earth I'm referring to:

Anyhow, has there been any speculation as to the meaning of the symbols that appear here? There are 10 of them and 2 of them appear in one segment. Eh. I just thought it looked cool...

My 1st thought is "the nine" as those 10 symbols are divided into nine... sections.

Is it just me or do the top two symbols look very Fallen-esk?

I thought that too although I couldn’t find them in the other Fallen Alphabet pieces. That doesn’t mean they aren’t fallen though. It makes me wonder if they might represent other species the traveler has uplifted.

Yeah, the bottom one is definitely the Enterprise, but the top one is the green lantern, duh.

The last time I recall these symbols coming up here was during Destiny 1 Age of Triumph

I think these symbols really came to the surface significantly around The Taken King?

Its unclear if they have been discussed much other places? They are difficult to search for at this point without a name or a meaning behind them.

Oh that’s interesting! It makes me think they may actually have some meaning that lasted. One of my thoughts was that someone created them with intent but the meaning was lost as the story was rewritten and they survived because they looked cool. Their first placement in later art looks very intentional.

I wonder if those symbols are names for the places the Traveler has visited? Or at least planets/locations. It would explain why there were two names in the same section/slot because those could be two planets in the same solar system or something.
