I'm a Titan that identifies as a Hunter? (Destiny)

by ManKitten, The Stugotz is strong in me., Monday, May 07, 2018, 14:23 (2469 days ago)

This is another one of those posts that really has no purpose other than, I totally need a break from work and this forum is my go-to escape. So...

1. Thanks to all of you for being part of a fun forum that keeps me sane.

2. I'm a Hunter. From seeing the first clips of D1 and this hunter

I wanted that cloak and sleek mysterious character. After I had played D1 for a while with my hunter I decided to start up a Warlock. I didn't much like it so I started a Titan near the end of D1 life cycle. It was a blast. It was so much fun, especially in Crucible. Running around shoulder charging people, using my feedback fence, meleeing everyone. Anybody that came near me was pummeled.

When D2 came out, I started up my Hunter again. Then eventually a Warlock and again, didn't like it. Now I'm in the midst of building my Titan and again, am having a blast. So now there is a dilemma. Do I continue to main my Hunter or move over to a Titan. It feels like I have to stay loyal to my Hunter but man...it's really fun being a Titan.

Then there is my cosplay suit. I had fun making my Hunter armor. It was my first attempt at cosplay so It seemed like an achievable goal. The bucket list is to become Master Chief but my skills are still amateur. But, with SOME experience under my belt, it might be time to attempt a Titan. Considering I'm 6'4", 240, a Titan suits me way more than a Hunter.

So my questions:
Should I stay as Hunter or transition to Titan?
Does anyone else have identity issues with your characters?

I've always been a "brawler" "Tank" characters in most of the games I play which is why I naturally gravitated towards Titans. However, there are a lot of aspects I like about Warlocks and Hunters. Sometimes it's more like having vacation home, sometimes you need time to get away from your main character and just have fun with another.

It could also be that the Hunter was just a stepping stone towards the awesomeness that is being a Titan. There are so many possibilities, you never know what you might do next!

Wow, reading your post and it echos so much of my own experiences and feelings regarding the classes in Destiny!

I don't think I will ever give up maining my Hunter, that class has always just felt right for me. Stealthy and quiet (except for Cayde), deadly precision with handcannons and daggers, also love the Archery aspect of the class, and of course the cloaks. And they are smart too, more of a street-smart to the Warlock's book-smart. Mysterious, intelligent and athletic outdoorsy type that's good with his hands - sounds like a singles-ad that would catch my attention! (Don't judge me guys, I saw your forum discussion about The Exo Stranger vs Ana Bray!) LOL. Hunters are like part Ninja, part Cowboy and part Wood Elf. Like if Wyatt Earp or Doc Holiday had a child with Tauriel, but they died tragically soon after and so their baby was taken and raised by a Samurai. ((I don't know why my mind is going these places right now, I think I need to step away from the internet!))

That said.. wow Titan's are a LOT of fun to play as!
and some of the highest crucible scores I have gotten were while playing my Titan.

I think Mac summed it up beautifully though "Sometimes it's more like having a vacation home, sometimes you need time to get away from your main character and just have fun with another."

I have played Warlocks to level 20 on D1 and D2, and they have some awesome powers and some pretty robes and other garb, but the play style just wasn't for me. And truth be told I was just clumsy with the floofy "glide" that they do. I had trouble with the Titan movement for awhile too, but got better at it ...plus all the smashing things made up for it :)
I will add though (just in case Beorn and Breitzen are reading this), that I do love having Warlocks on my team. I just don't care to play as one.

THAT COSPLAY THOUGH! Wow, very nice Cosplay! and Excellent photography and artistic editing skills! You mentioned a friend took the photos, did he also do the editing or did you do that? Either way those are fantastic.

I have never cosplayed. Like you I first was tempted due to Halo. I wanted to create my Spartan. But I wasn't truly driven to take it on. Then with Destiny, and the "Hunter" class, the urge came back only much stronger. It seems easier to accomplish for a first cosplay too since much of it you can wear normal-ish clothing and it wouldn't so bulky or hard to move around in. I need some badd@ss photos like yours! But first.. I need to actually make a Hunter cosplay =P

Everything you said is spot on. Especially with the Warlocks. I just could never get the floating down, wasn't my bag.

Thanks on the cosplay compliments. My buddy shot them because he has better lighting gear than me but I did the editing. This was one of the straight-from-camera shots that wasn't used.

Funny story, I wore this out around my town for Halloween last year and had 2 people call me Darth Vader. 1 person actually recognized me as a Hunter from Destiny. Nobody else had any idea what I was. Entered a costume contest at a bar, was immediately eliminated and sat down and had a cry with a couple with amazing home made ghost buster costumes that also got eliminated. Ah well...for the love the game, not the glory, right?

With his half-orange costume.
