Olds raids tonight (Fireteam Builder Events)
If you need to level up for the new raid lair, I'd love to run the leviathan tonight with you guys. Maybe Eater of Worlds if we kill it. There's still spots open, or else maybe it can self organize?

I will definitely be there.
If we don’t get enough people, I’d love to run the Nightfall and Heroic Strikes.
Thanks for playing!
Tonight was a whole lot of fun.
It really served to highlight the strengths of Destiny for me. It really is much more enjoyable with a good group of people willing to jump from activity to activity, rather than playing with a laser focus.
It was a really productive night in terms of leveling, but it was so much fun that it wouldn't have mattered if it wasn't.

It was fun. And I’m less worried about the light level thing for the raid. Still not super happy about the progression system, but doing all the milestones for another week won’t be really that bad. I went up exactly 10 light levels. So at this pace it should be ok.
The real problem is weapons. Since you cannot infuse weapons of different types like in TTK, it’s very possible to not get the type of gun you want, and either have to use a lower level gun or use a type you don’t like.
If anyone else doing the raid lair wants to do these together to get ready I’m all for it.
Pro tip
I'm finding shotties useful.

I’ll be on in the evenings. I want to do some Iron Banner, and I might spend a few evenings doing that on the Xbox side, but I’ll be primarily on PS4 this week.
State of Decay 2 also cane out today, and I wanted to dip into that, but I might put that on hold for a bit.

I'd honestly be surprised if there was a single weapon type in D2 where you don't find something that you like, and which you could nfuse a weapon into.
Even I like an SMG in the game (Riskrunner).

If it wasn't for the Overwatch event, I'd be all over State of Decay 2 (despite bad reviews. The first one was great, and also had lukewarm reviews). Let me know when you plan to play that, and I'll make time for it.

I know myself well enough to know that I’ll end up dipping in at some point this week on some evening when there aren’t many people playing Destiny.
If I like it, I’ll probably really dive in the week after the blind raid.
I never played the first one, but it looks interesting. For $10 on Game Pass I will definitely find out how it is.

For some strange reason, Detroit is being released on Friday. It seems like nobody is releasing on Tuesday anymore.
State of Decay 2
I've played for like four hours now, so I'm really just starting.
I'm really digging it, but that's sort of in spite of the game itself. It's . . . man, it's sort of bad. It's a buggy mess. Nothing game breaking so far, but all sorts of bad AI issues, shit disappearing and appearing at random, the simulation telling me that one of my squad members caused a fight at base and lowered moral, even though I he was actively in my party well away from base, etc.
The combat doesn't feel good, the movement is clunky, driving is awful, etc, etc.
All that said, I've been having a blast. It's just the oddest sort of compelling. Every time I get thing close to being set right at base, something else goes wrong and causes another issue that needs to be addressed.
I've always wanted to dig into one of these simulation games, but I always end up falling off. I spent like fifteen hours playing Rimworld, and I thought it was neat, but I never really got into it. This game has a really great blend of base/people/skills management and actual action gameplay.
I also really like the "story" stuff. It's all just random bullshit, but it hints at just enough to allow me to fill in the blanks and sort of build a stupid narrative in my head about my survivors and the people they encounter.
Also, I really appreciate nighttime in this game. It's actually dark, and you can't see a damn thing. It's genuinely scary and tense.
It's a hard game to recommend in a lot of ways, but I still ultimately really like it so far. I'd love to see a really polished AAA version of this (or maybe not--maybe that would just strip away all the rough edges and be the sort of stripped down experience that No Man's Sky was, I dunno).

I’m six or seven hours in, and while I’m sure that there’s still a bit left to do and explore, so can’t help but feel like I’m hitting the endgame of the region that I started in before everything becomes repetition.

Yeah, that’s been happening to me quite a bit, as well as the seemingly-common “disappearing follower” bug (though I found that if you go to the community tab and choose to play as the follower, it should fix the issue as soon as you hop in a car).

Driving feels pretty good, I think. It’s definitely enjoyable for me. And I found that using LB (sprint) to auto-initiate interactions helps fix a lot of the wonkiness that comes from pressing A at the wrong times (jumping is a joke in this game).

I find those things more annoying than compelling, honestly, but it comes with the territory, and it isn’t a huge issue to address the problems. Plus, some of the annoyances (such as having to bounce a single portable generator between stations because I didn’t make a permanent one) are actually fun for me, for whatever reason.

Yeah, quibbles aside (boy is it hard to raise morale), it’s great for what it is.

It’s funny how simple little stuff like that can make a character endearing. I helped someone with zero intention to do more for her beyond an escort mission, but after it was over, I asked her if she wanted to join us, and now she’s one of the members that I play as more often (and she has a very positive attitude, which is a big deal in Morose Mansion.

Yeah, it’s really annoying at first, but I’ve definitely grown to appreciate the danger (especially when there are red eyes in the dark). I’m just lucky that I’ve only run into Ferals during the day.

If you have game pass, I definitely recommend the game. If you don’t, it really is hard to sell someone in it until it goes on sale.

Dang, really? You must play way more efficiently than I am! I've played 7 hours and 3 minutes according to Xbox's tracking, and I still fee like I'm just starting. I haven't left my starting base yet, and I'm really only starting to do what feel like significant quests (I'm helping another group start a mechanic shop to fix up cars). I've killed one Plague Heart (but found three more, so far). I've only seen like half of my starting map.

That bug is frustrating. I usually just ignore it, they always just appear at home base when I get back.

How are you "supposed" to deal with Ferals? I've only killed two, and I ran both of them over with my SUV.

It seems like the supported the first game well (just judging from what I've heard, as I never played it), so I hope to see the same here.

They're fast, but only marginally more resilient than a regular zombie. If you have some distance between you, a few shots should bring one down. The issue is that they can close that distance quick, and they're pretty scary at melee range, so you can imagine how your situation can go from 0-100 in the dark.
Now if you want scary... I cleared a house out in the dark, and when I climbed into my car and turned the headlights on, a Juggernaut came into view through the darkness. Noped HARD in reverse (They will wreck your cars quick).
I wish I could link the clip, but the stupid Xbox isn't uploading any of my State of Decay videos.

I will say that if you put aside the five year dev time and way bigger budget, this game is pretty much what I would have expected/wanted in a sequel to the first, so it definitely helped to have tempered expectations. This is a really fun game at launch, with plenty to do, so at least in that regard it's better than the steaming pile that is Sea of Thieves.
Haven't done any co-op yet, but I definitely want to check that out, as the lack of it is honestly the biggest complaint that I had about the first one.

Co-op is fun, but you sort of have to write off meaningful progress for your own game if you join someone else’s. You can bring some supplies back, but that’s really it I think.
Maybe it’s just way too big of a technical hurdle, but I’d love to see the Minecraft server equivalent for this game. I wish we could start a game together. If we’re both online, we can pick different survivors and work together. If we’re playing a different times, it’s just like the single player, only we share a community. So I could log in and see that you’ve built out the base, recruited two new survivors, and killed a plague heart, and then pick up from there. I think it’d be really neat.

I don’t mind that style of co-op (the fact that we can bring some supplies back with us is pretty neat. Like outfitting somebody before they head off into the wilds). I’m just happy to be able to do stuff like illuminating a house at night with the car’s headlights, or searching buildings twice as fast (and without having to manually switch to your follower to get them to carry anything).

Yeah, it’s still a lot of fun to play together. Feel free to join or send an invite for me to join you if you see me online. I might be online tonight, but I’m not sure if I’m going to play that or Destiny.

AFAIK, you also earn Influence at an accelerated rate while playing in another person's community, which is pretty valuable.

Now I did not realize that. I only played with a friend pretty briefly. That is really helpful.
