Oh, me too. I'm just used to paying $40-50 for the art books (and more than that sometimes, but Bungie's have always been at least semi-reasonable).
I'd probably pay $40 for this, too. Just glad I don't have to!

Cheapest shipping for me is $12.60, so almost $40 total. There have been so many times that I've been ready to jump on a Bungie Store purchase, but have to back out when I'm reminded how ridiculous their shipping prices are :(

Along with a story that matters and makes the lore worth it. Ugh. Well, Bungie’s definitely good at making money I guess.
There will, in fact, be a new expanded lore section in game.
