Game Informer: Answering Forsaken's Lingering Questions (Destiny)
Game Informer posted a new video, a 25 minute session with Steve Cotton and Scott Taylor, asking the community's lingering questions.
The video is in the story in the link, but I saved you all the time and transcribed it (in summary form):
More secret quests, like Whisper?
Yes. Not exactly like that, though.
What slot will Whisper be?
Power.
More timed exclusive events like Faction Rallies and Iron Banner?
Yes, more planned, but not talking about it now.
Ability to change character appearance, faces, etc?
No plans for that.
How will Masterworks work?
Legendary armor has random bonus stat. Not rerollable, but can be uprgraded up to 10 times, which will make it a Masterwork.
Masterwork exotic armor?
No.
What will be required to infuse Y1 weapons to Y2 power levels?
Slot dependent rather than weapon type dependent, but the cost is higher, cheaper if the gun is a duplicate.
How do armor perks work?
Armor has two perks. First is ability/weapon output modifier, second perk is about ammo economy.
The Last Word?
Not announcing new exotics.
Hint about triangular ships at the end of D2?
No.
Why did you kill Cayde-6?
Talked about it quite a bit already, but wanted to show consequences, just made sense for Forsaken.
What happens to Cayde's vanilla content?
He disappears from the Tower, but vanilla content won't change. Did take his voice out of some patrols.
Will Cayde be memorialized in the Tower?
The Tower will be reacting to Cayde's death, but we want players to discover that.
New Hunter Vanguard?
Play and find out--there are several new characters in Forsaken.
What happens to treasure maps?
They're gone.
What content included with Gambit, specific exclusive weapons/armor?
Yes, Gambit exclusive gear.
Y2 gear obtainable with Y1 tokens?
Yes, for Gunsmith, Zavala, and Shaxx.
Are Legendary Engrams more rewarding in comparison to only being able to gain power through Powerful Engrams?
Still working on how that works.
Addressing time to kill in Crucible?
Team is working on it, not ready to talk about it.
In game LFG?
No.
Hand Cannons regaining D1 damage/power?
Balancing is being worked on, no answer.
Is the story/lore completely written already, or more in flux?
Combination of stuff that was previously established, and new stuff based on feedback.
Lore is important to Destiny, is that sort of "beneath the surface" storytelling going to play a bigger role in Forsaken?
Yes, absolutely.
SRL, horns, tricks?
No.
Recommended power for new raid?
Still working on it, not talking about it.
Current raids power level changing, will they drop Y2 power level gear?
Still looking at how to handle that.
Will raids be changed with the new weapons system?
New raids are designed with that in mind, old raids aren't changed.
Will Forsaken raid lairs have different and unique armor from the base raid?
Not talking about that yet.
Remaster old raids?
That'd be fun, great idea, no plans to announce anything about that (They sort of make it sound like they're really looking into it).
What types of changes can we expect for existing subclass nodes?
Bug fixes, but nothing specific to talk about.
Matchmaking for Strikes selected from the map?
Yes.
Enemy themed gear?
Yes, the Tangled Shore has Fallen gear.
Baron exclusive gear?
Play the game and find out.
Strike exclusive loot?
Yes.
Grinding strikes for power increase?
Yes, but not up to hard cap. Challenges associated with strikes will give powerful rewards. (They way they actually answered made me think it'll basically still work like it does now, with the soft cap but occasional drop from Heroic strikes)
More missions for exotic weapons?
Yes.
Exotic rocket launcher?
Yes.
Class specific weapons?
No.
Elaborate on armor set badges?
Full sets give you badges, badges earn you Triumphs, Triumphs could give you titles, badges look cool, themed around certain things.
Y1 veteran special rewards?
Solstice of Heroes is basically that.
Solo friendly endgame content, something similar to PoE.
Dreaming City has stuff for that, Gambit can be played alone (They said alone, but I think they just mean a fireteam isn't required because it has matchmaking?)
Changing adventures in any way?
A lot of players didn't play all the adventures in D2, so they want to integrate them differently, being deployed in a different way.
PE/Heroic PEs more rewarding?
No.
Guided Games changes?
No.
Bringing back Light Machine Guns?
No, focusing on the bow as the new thing.
Ammo synths?
No plans.
Radar for Trials?
No plans, not talking about Trials yet, looking at Trials and how to make changes to it.
IB, Trials, and Competitive available to players without Forsaken?
Yes, but you can't get past level 400 for power enabled playlists. You can earn new seasonal gear for events without Forsaken.
Making ships a part of the end game, races, combat?
No.
Shaders on swords?
Yes.
Will Eververse still be around?
Yes.
Describe mass shader deletion.
Cryptarch can delete shaders in groups of 5. You can pull shaders out of collection, so you don't need to keep them once you get them drop.
Will Celestial Nighthawk affect the new knife subclass for Golden Gun?
No.
Considered having the option for first person view for abilities/supers?
No.
Will we ever have a collaboration with other games (like Monster Hunter events for Horizon: Zero Dawn and Street Fighter?)
No, probably not.
