*** SPOILERS FOR THE WHISPER OF THE WORM QUEST ***

As some of you probably already know, completing the Whisper of the Worm mission is only the first step of an extended quest. After beating the mission and earning the Sniper Rifle, a Heroic version of the mission will appear in the director. The heroic mission features an elemental burn that rotates weekly. Completing the heroic version is the first step towards unlocking the catalyst for the Sniper Rifle, but also includes a hidden, optional bonus objective involving secret chests and Oracles. Completing this challenge earns you an exotic ship schematic.

When examining the schematic, it lists 3 objectives: you must complete the heroic version of the mission with each of the 3 elemental burns active. Ostensibly, this means completing the heroic mission once per week, 3 weeks in a row (or any other timetable that allows you to hit each of the 3 elemental burns).

However, as I discovered yesterday, you don’t actually need to complete the Heroic mission to get credit towards your ship schematic. After beating the Normal version of the mission last night, I noticed I’d been given credit for completing the Solar Burn portion of my schematic. Solar Burn is this week’s heroic modifier, so my guess is that there’s a bug in the schematic that fails to differentiate between Normal and Heroic completions. Seems like the kind of thing that might get patched sooner than later, but it’s still worth knowing about even if it only works this weekend.
