Will it be possible to get sagira's shell before 8/28? (Destiny)
by Schedonnardus, Texas, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, 06:36 (2384 days ago)
it looks like it can take up to 4 weeks to get this due to the random rotation of verses? Since i just finished Curse of Osiris campaign this weekend, I probably should focus my Moments of Triumph efforts elsewhere?

Damn, I didn’t think about that. I don’t know how the rotation works. The grind for the materials isn’t as bad as I anticipated, but I didn’t even consider the rotation aspect. I guess I didn’t realize it worked like that.

Same. At no point when I was doing them was I conscious of any rotation. I mean, I knew that I was getting them out of numerical order, but I just assumed it was random.

it's doable, but non-trivial.
The one tip I'd offer: you can only do 3 verses a week, and once you finish the third, you stop earning materials. Don't turn in #3 until you've maxed out your mats for next week.

Anyone know if there's a good and thorough guide for this? I've only been paying the slightest bit of attention and want to maximize my opportunity to do all this stuff.

thanks for the tip. looks like you can get mat from strikes, and i need to get vanguard rank 50, so maybe i'll crank the verses out and then work on strikes.
So i finished my first heroic adventure for Brother Vance last night, which gave me my first verse. I was able to then complete it rather quickly while doing the Flashpoint on Nessus. Upon turning it in, it gave me 3 more verses to chose from. So i guess in my first week, I should hopefully have 4 of the verses done. Then it will be up to RNG as to what verses are available the next few weeks.

If you're talking about the exotic ship visible at the statue, I don't see how. It specifically says you have to do the armor/upgrades on all 3 classes.

3 characters plus 4 (?) rounds of 5 armor pieces with 3 missions per armor...
So 3 * 4 * 5 * 3 = 180 missions, so you have done 30 missions already?
I almost finished the first round of green armor missions for my titan in a full day of grinding. Mind you that was almost completely solo so that makes a big difference, especially on the missions. The last two missions are BRUTAL solo.

2 rounds of 5 armor pieces. Uncommon > Rare > Legendary. You do not have to MW them for the exotic ship.

1AU was ridiculous. Particularly the "sun part" of the mission, where I kept getting killed by snipers and sent back to the beginning. Turns out they were right in a white bloom glow that made them practically impossible to see them in, even at "1" brightness. That was frustrating. Good sniper tactics technically, with the *ahem* sun at your back and all, but yeesh...
As a solo player, I do not want to do that mission again by myself.

I eventually got to a point where I was getting frustrated and thought to myself "I can totally make a run for it to the next section. I proceed to run, and for a solid 5 seconds I thought I was going to pull it off and then BAM Cabal drop pod lands on my head. It took all my strength not to chuck that controller :D
I could have written this post. ;)

It at least made me figure out an alternate strategy. I still think the enemies are way too passive.

Yeah, now that I've run it about a dozen times, I think 'brutal' might be an exaggeration. I'm not sure if 'passive' is the right word - 'predictable' might be more of the issue. (That is: now that I know where things spawn, and which things will rush me and which things won't, I know exactly where to be to avoid dying in most situations. Dying is now a failure to execute, rather than an inability to perform.)
FIrst time through, though... it kicked my ass. ;)
I still think the enemies are way too passive.
I guess maybe it's not worth rehashing this discussion, but . . .
We played through a few campaign missions of Reach this weekend. Specifically, Levi and I played through Exodus on Heroic, and it was a real challenge, especially for one particular reason: hammer brutes. There is not a single enemy like that in Destiny. Thrall, I guess, but those things aren't powerful unless Blackout is active. Hammer brutes are relentless. Even regular brutes are really aggressive.
It's one of the very few nagging issues I have with Destiny--I think the enemies just aren't as good as the enemies in Halo. I think the variety and the aesthetic and the designs of enemies are great, better than Halo even, in a lot of respects, but even in these challenging Redux missions, they still mostly sort of just stand around. The challenge doesn't come from having difficult behaviors and aggression, but rather on sort of cheap tricks and spawning lots of high level enemies literally right on top of the player.
That isn't say it isn't fun, but playing Reach on Heroic gives a pretty stark comparison to the way enemies behave in Destiny. I think I'm just curious as to why. Bungie was a pioneer with AI and enemy behaviors in Halo--I think the Halo games are still the gold standard for that stuff. It's one of the very few things where Destiny feels like a huge step backwards.

Yeah, my 2 extra characters were basically only progressed to The Farm to be used for extra inventory storage slots. (I did take my Titan into The Crucible a bit and progressed some levels)
So how feasible is it to play 2 entire characters entire campaigns within the time limit, in order to get to the new Tower/Wall to collect & upgrade these armor sets? (realistically speaking)

Korny streamed bringing a brand-new character up to 360 in 6? hours or something. Honestly, you don't need to get that high; you only need to get to level 30. You're going to use existing weapons and the Solstice armor, so all you need is to max out your level.
Come to think about it, you might not even need to do that. You need to bring your level up high enough that you can use your preferred weapons. Whatever that is.
