THAB 9.27.2018 (Destiny)

This Week at Bungie has been posted.

They start by talking about the the curse to the Dreaming City, and confirm that it is on a three week cycle (which I think means that the "pristine" version of the Dreaming City we saw before the raid won't be repeated).

They also mention the new Crucible mode.

They address the Masterwork Core issues some people have. The TL;DR is that they are changing the name of this item to reflect that it's no longer just for Masterworking items, and they are going to add more sources of them to adjust their availability.

They also address the Exotic drop rates, with the solution of increasing the chances of exotic engrams dropping an item you don't already have. (Seriously, Bungie, this isn't really effective communication--what's that mean? Are you increasing it by 1% or 50%? Dupe protection? Vague comments like this tell us absolutely nothing.)

They talk about Iron Banner. They are going to reduce the difficulty of bounties (for example, getting 20 super kills instead of 25), and every bounty will now reward Powerful gear.

They also provide a handy graph of how much Power matters:

This graph shows the power curve for being under-leveled, but it is effectively the opposite for being over-leveled.

They show off some art from High Moon studios and their work in Forsaken (I'm glad to see the other developers' work highlighted!)

They talk about new Holiday cards.

Then Player Support Report and Movie of the Week and Bungie Bounty schedule.

A difference of 10 light results in a 10% damage reduction. That's really really huge. That curve seems way too steep to start out. Power mattering in PvP is dumb anyway.

Darkness in the Light
This week in Destiny 2, Forsaken players began their pursuit of Malfeasance. As players started making their way through the quest for this Exotic Hand Cannon, it was discovered that the three-player quest step “Darkness in the Light” could be launched with a fireteam of up to six players.

While we are working to address this issue in a future hotfix, we urge caution to fireteams who launch into this activity with more than three players, as it was designed and tested for three-player fireteams. Players who launch into this activity with four or more players may encounter memory issues, which may result in poor game performance or unexpected client crashes. Stay tuned for updates.

I wonder what they do for the raids, that is so different for a strike?

So... who here with this quest step wants to break Destiny 2, eh? What could POSSIBLY go wrong!

Oh , please don’t be fixed by the time I get home Monday night. I want someone to pull me into their fireteam.

That's a real bummer.

Don't disable it Bungie, _embrace_ it and fix any performance issues encountered!

That’s about 18-20 points of damage. That is generally a negligible difference given that most weapons average TTK is already overkill.

Obviously without more detailed data we cannot discuss specific examples of how this plays out. But it wasn’t until about a 30 power level difference that it really impacted my general performance, anecdotally. And about a 50 point difference to really feel at a disadvantage. Obv. YMMV, but a 10% difference is minor.

Running this mission with 6 players was right up there with the most fun experiences I’ve had in Destiny. If Bungie “fixes” it... well... that would suck.
