Finally encountered the meatball in a game of gambit tonight. It was a game where I was dropped in in the middle of the first round. Almost didn’t realize what we were facing when it spawned. Fortunately my team of random quickly went to work on him and took him down (I don’t think the other team even summoned theirs. And lunatic do you know, I came away with the quest! This is going to be a grind...

It's a reasonably fun grind, at least. The only frustrating step (for me, anyway) was "deposit 300 motes, but every mote lost subtracts two from your total." I'm currently on the last Gambit step and it's going pretty smoothly so far. At the very least, I can't go backwards at this point.
