Risk/Reward Exotic Quest warning *spoilers* (Destiny)

The new exotic quest, Risk/Reward, allows you to complete the quest without actually claiming the exotic weapon.

Very vague and minor quest spoilers ahead:

The quest ends with a mission. This mission involves finding the location where the weapon is hidden, then jumping down a hole and fighting a bunch of bad guys with it. However, as I discovered last night, it is possible to jump down the hole before you’ve picked up the weapon. From there, you can finish the mission, and the quest will be completed with no way to reclaim it, even though you never got the weapon.

It’s not a problem for me... this happened on my 2nd character (I’d already completed the quest properly on my main), and the quest rewards an old exotic anyway, but I figured it’s worth making people aware.

“But CruelLEGACEY, you dashing and clever man, how could you possibly fail to pick up the weapon before jumping on down the hole, especially when you’d already successfully completed the mission once before?”
