Crisis Core Reunion: An endearing experience of camp (Gaming)

Zack excitedly saying "Yeah! I'm getting pumped!" during the squats minigame is perhaps the most funny example, but almost every other interaction has with it a stilted quality with awkward cadence.

The game repeatedly describes Zack as a puppy dog, and the comparison is absolutely appropriate. And I love it.

And yet… it feels endearing and honest. Play it through to the end, and it's clear the game has the same level of earnestness as the games it was spun off from.

This game end up being true camp. And I liked it.

I'm nowhere near the end, but I agree so far. It's honestly kinda special in a way I can't quite put my finger on. I mean, FF7 Remake has plenty of that camp, too (I always laugh at everyone giving thumbs ups in really silly ways in actually pretty dire circumstances--and I love that too!)

Too bad the 'missions' system sucks ass.

I actually kinda disagree. I wouldn't say it's a good system, but keep in mind the handheld roots of the game. It'd be an okay way to play in a car ride or something, or on the bus on the way to school. They're all super short if you want them to be. It sort of sucks how necessary they are for the item rewards, as you can't really just skip them and play through the story if you actually want to progress Zack's power.
