Sooo... How's Edge of Fate? (Destiny)

I wanted to like it, I really did.

There's a really cool weapon you get from the rewards progression thing from the get go -- an exotic scout rifle that's sort of a mini Xenophage meets Patience and Time (you go invisible on a precision kill), and uses primary.

The rest. Oh dear.

I had to turn off cinematic dialogue -- there's a new character I call "Seattle Dad" because he looks and sounds like a dude you'd encounter at the dog park, not in a space opera game. He also speaks REALLY slow, hesitates between sentences.

They replaced the replacement of Gina Torres with a totally weird replacement. (I support the SAG-AFTRA video game strike, but that's Bungie's problem. My problem is to cough up the money to buy a game.)

There's a ton of non skippable dialogue that (others may disagree) is both long, bloated, and frankly not my cup of tea coming from a company that used to be a masterclass in narrative storytelling (Marathon, Myth, even Oni), and just confusing by having a totally different Ikora. (Did I mention her voice actor is a replacement for a replacement?)

The new navigation UI will be, I suspect, a full appendix in a to-be-written human interface manual that will be entitled "how to really fuck a pig, UI-wise."

The grind is a paragon example for a total lack of respect for the player's time.

It also forces you to turn into a bouncing ball in parts.

Aside from that, it's wonderful.
