If this means devs can’t control the output, that’s one thing. I don’t know that to be the case.I didn’t like 343’s lighting choices in Halo Anniversary and we didn’t have the bogeyman of AI to blame.

One thing is, I don’t have a platonic ideal of what any of the characters in these videos should look like. I’m sure that affects perceptions. I’m sure people have their favorite version of Lara Croft. Technology changes what’s possible. Games don’t need to look photorealistic. Everything is contextual. I’m not like, “oh crap! Look what they did to Grace!” I have no idea who Grace is. I thought the faces in Starfield were bad. I think this technology makes Starfield’s graphics better. And in general, simply judging by the standard of photo realism, all of them are improvements.
