I can finally buy a new Halo game again? Because they finally fulfilled my “take the franchise away from 343 since 343 has done everything it can to kill Halo” wish? What a great day for Halo! And then the Destiny lives announcement yesterday. And Marathon is awesome. We’re all just coming out on top right now!

I've long thought that your disappointment in Halo 4 and MCC had curdled into animus. I should hope I never disappoint you! I had my disappointments with non-Bungie Halo games, but I never stopped rooting for them. Halo 4 had some good story beats. I'm glad that the Master Chief Collection (in its current state) exists. I truly enjoyed the core content in Campaign Evolved. I can't relate to the mindset that one minute is so certain that a group of people under one moniker is incapable of delivering a game that is worthy of trying, to the next minute saying "I can't wait to play it" about a game no one knows anything about except that it will be made by a group of people under a different moniker. I continue to root for the Halo franchise, but I also have never believed that Activision had some kind of golden touch. (I used to believe that about Bungie and still believe they do "fit and finish" as well as anyone.) We will see!

I was just wondering the same thing. With all that's come out with Activision and Destiny (if the information is true) it sounded like Activision had a good plan that would have kept Destiny alive for a long time which avoided all the sunsetting and other things that eventually created the games demise.
Also I think Halo Infinite campaign stopped receiving attention long ago, and the multiplayer had its last update a few months ago. No idea what's going on with MCC, it seems to be its own thing.
It seems like as much as Activision has been demonized...they might actually know what they're doing in the realm of regulated & scheduled delivery. 'It might not be what we want, but it's what we need'...kinda thing.

Your response is well measured and could prove to be very true. I agree about Activision consistently launching products when they say they will and seemingly having a good grasp on larger franchises and supporting them. Hell, it’s why Bungie went with them to begin with. The question is, will they try to make Halo be like Call of Duty? Could be a dud if they don’t keep that Halo sauce that makes Halo be Halo.
And non-measured, the fact that it’s not 343 doing Halo (who never got the sauce, hired people who hate Halo, and I could go on and on about their many failings) means that it’s absolutely a good thing at its foundation. Activision could be bad, but the fact that someone had the brains and ability to finally stop letting 343 murder Halo is nothing but a good thing. Hopefully Activision capitalizes on it and continues the good.
I look forward with much optimism and hope to Halo’s new future, and I can’t wait to play it.

It looks like Activision has created a Halo group that is dedicated to Halo! I hope they do a better job with Halo then we have seen in the past. Time will tell, I guess.

Also...I recognize that Battle Royale games are no longer the "in" thing..but man...I've wanted a Halo BR for so long. It would be pretty sweet if that happened. It sounded like there were a bunch of Halo games/modes left on the cutting room floor that sounded pretty fun. Maybe they will see the light of day.
